Tough call here, but I'm going with Saigeon, he's had a really solid junior career if nothing else, now he just has to prove it at the pro level.

Finally get to vote for somebody new! Zura!
I'll admit I didn't watch any VHL games of his this year, but what's the upside with him? His numbers don't exactly jump off the page, even for that league.

His upside probably isn't super high, but he's a modern type defensemen that can skate and move the puck. There isn't high end offensive skill, but he isn't Nemeth either. Tends to have good reads a lot of the time, but can puck watch and drift into bad positions... so hard to get a good read of IQ. Younger defensemen in Russia tend to have a hard time putting up numbers in pro leagues, so even if that was a big part of his game, I don't think you could really judge him on it. For instance he was top of the league for U19 defensemen. Romanov (who is probably the best fully Russian trained defensemen prospect in ages) put up 4 points in the KHL last year. They just don't tend to get a lot of ice or opportunities. How Zhura looks at the WJC this year will be more illustrative than his whole season last year... which sucks trying to evaluate these players because the samples end up so small.

He had offense the year before in the MHL. I liked his shot a lot but he was a rover and a lot like Barrie. I’m not sure if they decided he needed defensive boot camp or that’s just the AK Bars system, prob some of both. So they had him in the VHL which is a no offense Russian AHL and for him to hold his own there all year at 18 is great but the hope is he can move on to the KHL this year. So I’m not sure what to make of it but this year will tell a lot. I do still like him as a prospect, I’d be voting for him by now if some others hadn’t been. And I agree the WJC will be big for him.

Kazan has taken a lot from the DPE era Devils' approach to offense...so whether that's a specific point of focus for Zhuravlyov or not, it is something that that system will try to drill into him.

As far as who to vote here, I’ve been going Mutsla but I don’t have a strong argument against Saigeon or Zhuravlyov here. Mutala I’m intrigued by some of his numbers, he had a lot of primary ES points, so there could be a breakout coming for him.
