How did Gudbranson take a step back this year? He's developed an offensive game.

Yah that was mind baffling. I can't believe how people are saying he took a step back here and even the media. He became a better all around player. I guess people haven't seen him play at all this year and are just making there judgements based on we didn't sign him last season and his suspension.

There's no way Granlund let alone Brodin get to have "A"'s.

Brodins negative parts is something he can easily change, while slapping an A on him might be a bit premature he has some damn fine intangibles.

What has granlund done to earn an A you say? well was the best player in the FNL playoffs and led his team to a championship, and played really well in World Championships schooling a guy with a highlight reel goal and yet thats not enough to garner an A?

I don't watch nearly enough of Granlund to form an authentic opinion on the matter but if your argument is that he should be an A because of one goal in the WC then that's pretty damn ridiculous.

These seem higher than other posters are ranking their prospects, but my frame of reference are those numbers that Hockey's Future have been using for the Oilers (each team seems to have different reference scales). The numbers there are taken with a big grain of salt (because it assumes top-end potential), and more stock is given to the letters (how likely they are to reach that potential/how far along their development they are)

since Hall, Eberle, Omark and MPS graduated, they should not be on the list

That's more like it. A non-homered Leafs list. I'd even go as far as to give Percy a 7.5 C to be a bit generous. Otherwise that's what it should be.

Reimer - because he has proven he can play with the big boys, and as a number 1
Aulie gets 7.5 because he has played in a higher up roll already in the NHL
And Colborne gets 8 because I think he has 1st line potential

Ducks should either stay put or move up slightly. We will lose only our #6 prospect to graduation, while adding everyone from this draft. Meanwhile Vatenan has grown some, Holland had a great preview in the AHL, DSP had a great playoffs, and we addressed the weaknesses of our pool in the recent draft.

RNH doesn't get to be a 9 just because he was taken first overall. That should be reserved for kids who are dominant even before their draft year and completely ridiculous on their draft year. RNH is neither. Yakupov might be.

To me RNH is 8.0B.

Who are you? Do you know anything about the leafs?

Kadri is too low. I would give him 8.0B

Colborne is arguable.

gardiner is rated an 8.0C on HF. The fact that 7.5(#3 D-man) is too high for you says something.

Biggs and Mckegg are too high..

Percy is arguable. His style of play could easily make him a great #3 D-man though.

Blacker is rated a 7.0C on HF. He has risen his stock. He is not too high

Frattin is not too high either. He has the chops (skating, shot, hockey sense) to deserve at least a 7.0, I think a 7.5. He had 7 shots and 2 hits in 15 mintes of playing time. The kid is a beast. He looked like an 8.0 that one game and he had just taken 3 plane rides and had not slept for 24 hours. I do however realize that that was one game so I rated him lower (7.5). But 7.0C is definately NOT overrating him.

Sounds about right, the Ducks added to their weakest prospect position, by adding arguably the best goaltender in the draft and added to their forward depth with a player who's a safe bet to make the NHL in some capacity.

I'm not going to do the number grades, because I think they're stupid, but the Ducks have a damn good prospect pool. While they're lacking any real blue chip prospects, now that Fowler and Sbisa have graduated, they still have a great mixture of very good prospects at each position.

Etem
Holland
Palmieri
Vatanen
DSP
Brandom McMillan
John Gibson
Justin Schultz
Rakell
Mat Clark

That's definitely a top-10 prospect pool. Only thing missing is an elite prospect, but we'll survive with Fowler being in the NHL, instead of having a top-5 prospect pool.

Bingo.

He knows nothing about the Maple Leafs prospect.

Just the surnames he's seen on HF.com.

This is fun. Some pretty good predictions some not so good. Really hard to do but, I'm pretty impressed.

I've always found the rating system interesting. When reading it, any top level goalie prospect should be given 9.0D(Bernier?) or 8.0C(Reimer?). With the absolute best getting 9.0C(Me?).

It also seems like numbers should be higher and letters lower the younger the prospect. So RHN would get a 9.0D whereas Schenn would get something like 8.0C.

I think a lot of the problem comes from the first part of the D ratings. Just because RHN could drop to a second liner doesn't mean that he's unlikely to be elite (well, in this case he is unlikely to be elite but, you catch my point).

For MN from this years draft
Ganlund 8.5A no not insane what all has he done this year
Brodin 8.0A

Wowza...i love the optimism but Granlund and Brodin are a little to high.

Granlund 8.0C. He is looking great so far but there are questions about his footspeed, size, and ability to translate to a NA rink. He has the work ethic, smarts, and natural ability to overcome them but they still are questions about his potential.

Brodin 7.5B. He was a good pick by Fletcher but he still has to develop an offensive side to his game and needs to fill out. He is gonna be a fantastic 2nd or 3rd dman for the Wild in the future.

Both are fantastic prospects who will make an impact on the wild's club. The question is where they will fit in and how there game will translate to the pros.

What has granlund done to earn an A you say? well was the best player in the FNL playoffs and led his team to a championship, and played really well in World Championships schooling a guy with a highlight reel goal and yet thats not enough to garner an A?

That's why he gets an 8 :) (his performance as a whole last year, not just the goal)
