I think Sobolev is getting very disrespected here. Sure he lacks offense in his game, but he is a very good and big stay at home defenseman. He has size and even if it is just in Laval, will be a perfect pairing for an offense first LD who needs help defending. Given his lack of offense, it makes his plus/minus in 2 years in the OHL even more impressive. That Niagara traded for him, should indicate his play is valued outside of this fanbase.

I mean, he was acquired for peanuts by Niagara so I wouldn't say it's a great indicator.

They are losing several D this year so they went and got some depth.
