Hey these are mine!

Goal

-Drafting the team that would win this coming season (2020/2021)

Salary Cap

60M floor, 75M ceiling

Draft
-Snake draft style
-3rd round will be reversed (meaning the team that picks 31st in round 1 will pick 1st in rounds 2 and 3)

Trades
-Can trade picks/players as long as everyone has 20 players at the end of the draft
-If your pick has been skipped you can't trade it
-When making a trade, please post in this thread and have the other GM confirm
-Each asset may only be traded ONCE, meaning every pick once, and every player once
-No three team trades
-No on the clock pick trading
-We will have a veto council of 3 people for controversial trades

Contracts
-Using 2020/21 cap hits
-HOWEVER: any player who played last season in the NHL and who doesn't have a contract at the time the game starts uses their 2019/20 cap hit (i.e. possibly Mike Hoffman)
-Players must have a contract for the 2020/21 season, OR have played in the NHL in 2019/20

Time Limit for picks
-2 hours for rounds 1-6, 1 hour for rounds 7-15, 30 minutes for rounds 16-20
-If you have back to back picks, it's still 2 hours not 4
-The clock starts at 10:00 AM ET and ends at 12:00 AM ET
-You have 10 minutes to change your pick if the player selected has been picked, then we move on

Skipped Picks
-I will auto teams with skipped picks if 40 selections have been made since the pick
-Auto skipped if you have a pick to make up

Voting
-Internally to determine playoff teams, HF games for regular season and round 1, polls for the next 3 rounds
-Tie breakers are most votes from players in the game
-Siblings cannot vote for each other

Rosters
-12F, 6D, 2G

big oof at Broberg since he won't even be in the NHL during the 20-21 season

I mean it's possible he comes in and blows the doors off in camp, but no, it doesn't look likely since we have Jones ahead of him and needing a good look before the ED.

I took a similar (but less major) risk on Liljegren, who in pretty much any other org would be a #6 this upcoming year getting spoonfed powerplay time. The big difference is that Timmy already has a great AHL year under his belt and his major competition for a spot are also both rookies, so it's fair to believe he has at least a strong chance of winning a job. Broberg really does not unless he way over impresses.

Random completely useless barely fun fact:

3 Leafs goalies have been drafted before one goalie has been drafted from any of San Jose, Chicago, and/or Los Angeles

Now someone take #4

At least Liljegren will get NHL games this upcoming season, and if he does well, will stick.

Broberg sticking ahead of {Nurse, Bear, Jones, Larsson, Russell, Barrie, Lagesson, Bouchard} is just extremely unlikely given (1) he's in a great development spot right now in Sweden, and (2) his contract slides.

As of now Liljegren is behind Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie, Holl, Dermott, Lehtonen, Bogosian, Sandin and maybe even Marincin (though.. please no). So I don't know how likely he is to get a job and stick either. He is just as buried on the depth chart.

For missing about half of my picks, I'm pretty content with how these teams are panning out.

Although my focus on getting a solid defense never tends to translate into voting success. It's an absolutely critical part of deep playoff runs but seems to always get overlooked in these.

I think people like forwards more

For what it's worth I value defense a lot personally, but it does show up with a bit of a sacrifice in your 2nd lines for sure. I could still see both of them doing some damage though (more so Dallas).

No, he's just trying to recover from hip injuries.

You should still have him.
Same as Johns, I'm out
Yeah he's had two hip surgeries plus addiction issues stemming from untreated OCD. He's not "officially" retired (I would guess because remaining active gives him access to NHLPA treatment) but he wrote a long/good article about how he thinks he's done:

Battling OCD, Double Hip Surgeries, Winnipeg’s Colin Wilson Considers Retirement
I read that
