Following his UCL tear injury, Andre DeBlois decided to retire from the NHL. This came as a shock to many, especially me because he had another year on his contract. So when I paused simming to check if anyone retire and he was gone I was surprised. DeBlois is going down as the best Los Angeles King in NHL history. He was loyal to the team through it all. Spending 21 glorious seasons there. Though he was not able to help the team capture a Stanley Cup he was an important piece to the franchise. For many seasons he gave them a shot to win. He was a goal scoring machine being able to pot over 700 goals over his career. DeBlois was fortunate enough to play with many of the games greatest centers such as Anze Kopitar, Jack Eichel and Auston Matthews. He was always counted on to produce and he often did. Drafted 2nd overall in 2020 he came as promised. He was a dominant junior player and it translated easily into the NHL. DeBlois was also Mr. Canada! He had a really solid international career and rarely said no to representing Canada. DeBlois was entered into the NHL hall-of-fame!

John Little has finally decided to end his career. What a lengthy one for the goaltender from the UK. John Little was a dominant junior and college goaltender. He stood on his head throughout his college career and was a fan favourite at Boston College. Having led the Eagles to a NCAA championship there was no doubt he would end up having quite a bit of success in the NHL. It did take him a while to make his way to the NHL as the St. Louis blues were extra careful with his development and allowed him to play in College for 3 years before bringing him over. Little was a very solid goaltender despite only hitting 40 wins once. For most of his career in St. Louis he played just under 50 games a season. He was an effective starter having more winning seasons that losing. That was reflected in his two Vezina trophies. Although he didn't win a Stanley Cup, he was loyal to the Blues to the very end. Some would argue that if he had left he may have gotten a cup elsewhere. Little despite his last name, has left a huge impact in St. Louis and will be remembered for years to come. He was inducted into the hall of fame.

The 2nd of the UK superstars has decided to call it a career. Taylorson who was drafted 5th in 2020 was a surprise pick to many at #5. Many wondered if the EIHL was the best place to develop and if his game would translate. He was a dominant goal scorer in the EIHL. There wasn't a single player in that league that came close to matching Taylorson's level of play. So when he was drafted to Chicago they expected him to really light up the league. In his first year of the league he scored 41 goals and had 82 points. He did not disappoint. However things started to go down from there. 82 points was Taylorson's career high and he really struggled to hit that benchmark again. Coming close in 2031-32 with the Maple Leafs with 40 goals and 81 points. That being said Taylorson did his job. He lit up the lamp a lot and did his best during some lean years in Chicago. Things started to go better in Toronto but still he was unable to elevate to one of the league's consistent premier scorers. Had Taylorson been on another team with a gifted centerman I believe his numbers would be much higher and he could have been one of the best pure snipers in the league. With that being said Taylorson did have a successful career and was inducted into the hockey hall of fame!

What a career for Chuck Sauce! He was a late bloomer compared to the rest of the superstars. He wasn't a flashy scorer or centerman and in fact wasn't even getting top minutes. I wondered if he was going to pick it up. Early in his career in New York he wasn't getting a lot of opportunities even though he had the skill. But once he was traded to Washington, his career really took off. He was an integral part of both of their cup runs. If it wasn't for his early woes he would really go down as one of the most underrated offensive centermen in the league. He gave 100% and was an exceptional passer. He always found a way to find the open man and would try his best to contribute. Despite the doubts early he found a way to put it all together and salvaged a pretty mediocre start to a career. I would have loved to see him continue to show his scoring touch with some consistency! However he can be proud of the career he had!
