1. $15,985,000 is probably the highest salary ever for a single year, right?
2. How the f*** does Ottawa miss the PO with the 2 top scorers? And f*** you Khabby you stole my Ross  ;)
3. 103 points each, Ottawa had 244 goals... :ha:
4. I'm curious as to where I'm at career point wise.

I think LA is starting to regress now :(

The Steele and Berndtsson era may be ending, but it brought nothing but happiness and success to the best Californian team ;)

Roller coaster season for Clausson and the Islanders. Clausson had probably a major injury when he missed around half of the season games. Chuck carried mostly alone the team to got one of the last playoff spots. As the Dynamic Duo reunited the showed the value for the team and played an impressive playoff series and won together their third ring.

Our first superstar has decided to call it quits at the peak of his career. This retirement came to me as quite the surprise. It still seemed that Kopitar had a lot to give. However Kopitar gave us 17 fantastic seasons in the NHL. He is one of the few superstars to have had a 100 point season. He was a dominant player for the Arizona Coyotes and kept them fairly relevant in the playoffs during the mid-2020's. Being a top 10 pick in 2023 I think there was high expectations for him. He had a dominant pre-draft year in the SEL and was one of the league leaders in assists. He carried that into the NHL and being one of the better setup men in the league. However he was never on great teams during his NHL career and was never able to capture a Stanley Cup.

Thanks for the great summary and write up. Looking forward to the next HFBS.

Had some amazing years in Arizona alongside Hayton and Keller, his two favoured linemates. Would have liked to see him stay there but it wasn't to be. Turned Hayton into a 50+ goal scorer, lol

I can't help but feel like he underperformed, or was utilised the wrong way by his coaches, seeing as he had 100+ point potential each season. I feel like if he would have had better linemates, he'd be putting up 100 consistently. However, like you said, ended up on sub par teams and only ever had that one last shot at the cup, losing in 7. Did he have a better career than his brother Anze? I don't think he did, despite the point peaks, I feel Anze was a better overall player, especially defensively.

Yet another superstar who is deciding to go out relatively on top. Leo Papousek comes from a long line of HF Boards superstars. Heading into the WHL Bantam draft, he was selected 9th overall which surprised a lot of people. Many considered him to be the top ranked player. Either way, he proved the doubters wrong and was able to capture a WHL championship along side his good friend Fulton Reed. Leo is a pure offensive defenseman. He was know for speed and skill and Chicago must have been drooling when they saw him on the board. Immediately Papousek had an impact on the team and helping to spark the offense a bit. He brought life and energy to their powerplay but he was really unable to get them over the hump and into the playoffs. The Blackhawks did a poor job surrounding Papousek with the right pieces in order to build a contender. Unfortunately many good quality years were wasted in Chicago. Even still Papousek continued to be an elite defenseman and put up outstanding numbers. He has broken numerous WHL, Prince George and NHL records and has established himself as one of the best offensive defenseman to play the game. Papousek was also relied upon by Team USA for many international tournaments and has a medal of every colour from the Olympics. Papousek was inducted to the NHL Hall of Fame.

Fulton Reed would appreciate a trade to a contender. No big deal if you forget. Just would like to see if he can get past the 1st round before he retires.

I little bit be surprised that Frank Clausson left his buddy Chuck and the Islanders after so successful years together. LA Kings got close crazy to sign 4 Superstars and gave Frank the first time opportunity to be Captain of the team, which is nice and probably the price to get the Franchise player and face from the Islanders.
