Happy Birthday to hockey fans! Some fantastic matchups, especially Hawks v. Blues, rematch of Leafs v. Jets, and of course Habs v. Bruins. An all-day buffet!

I think Calgary is in some big time trouble today.
Caps are a team looking to avenge a loss against Edmonton, probably come out firing, and the Flames are still licking their wounds from the hunmiliation of a 9 - 1 defeat.

    I see another blow out.

The first Habs / Bruins game of the season is always fun.

Was this this birth of the NHL, like 103 years ago? Is that why you said Happy Birthday?

Good goal and the correct call. Palmieri was not interfering in any way. Was not in Reimers crease. Reimer reached out and initiated contact

How is that a goal? honest question how it's not considered goalie interference.

    Nvm I see it now

Goalie threw his blocker out of the crease at Palmieri. Absolutely a good goal, though I can understand why the Panthers don’t agree.

He initiated contact outside of the crease and then tossed the puck into his own net doing his windmill impression

Palmieri was outside the crease and Reimer threw his blocker out at him. I can understand the frustration but that was Reimer’s fault. He’s entitled to his space in the crease, not outside. And it’s not like Palmieri skated into a blocker that was already there. Reimer extended his arm out into Palmieri’s path, which was outside the crease.

That's as gray area for me as goalie interference gets. Reimer initiated the contact, but it was in the process of making a blocker save so i don't know what he can really do there.

I get why they allowed that one but at the same time it sends a message that running into goalies, if you time it right, is a valid tactic to score. Which, to be fair, it probably is lol.

In real time I thought for sure it was goalie interference but the replay showed that Reimer initiated contact

Zero chance that's called a goal if it's the Panthers.

If you stay outside the crease and the goalie isn't set there I don't see how this sets any precedent. Not like its easier to try and do it compared to just getting a screen and deflection.

I know doesn't change the fact they took their sweet time with the review.

And incidentally Palmieri was skating by outside the crease.

Agree it was all incidental, but Reimer's blocker caught the original shot. It's a tough call I've seen go both ways.

Yeah, i guess so. It's just one of those things that i can almost guarantee they call it the other way around at some point, but if this call is the norm then im fine with it.
