A team with 3 balls is more likely to be picked first. So this means that teams like the Pens or Rangers are more likely to get the 30th pick than the first! If they start by drawing for who gets the 30th pick and go at reverse until the 1st pick, then the best chance a team has of getting the first pick is to never get picked during the draw, which means that teams like Detroit or Colorado have a better chance of picking first than Pittsburgh or New York!

Here are the odds... I used a calculator

48 balls...so

1/48 = 2.08% chance
2/48= 4.17% chance
3/48= 6.25% chance

So while some teams obviously have a better chance than others,
there are no overwhelming favorites...

Another way they could manage this lottery is through eliminating each team from the lottery one ball by one. For instance, it'll take three balls to be pulled out to knock out the Jackets, Rangers or Penguins. Should one of their balls be pulled in reverse format, it wouldn't be a big deal since they'd still have two other balls left. Their odds increase dramatically as each team gets eliminated. In contrast, should a Detroit or Colorado ball be eliminated, they're gone immediately and their draft position is determined. This format would help me understand why the teams are being revealed in reverse order if this is being done LIVE. It also gives the Rangers a far greater chance of landing the lottery pick. Perhaps this is why the NHL didn't want to televise this in the first place. Just imagine how many angry GMs there would be if this form of lottery picking should take place. I would be equally as upset!!! Using this draft scenario on the draft simulator, take a wild guess who got first overall on my first try! THIS THING IS FIXED!

Start with youth XL(which fit adults on the small side of medium,like me ) and work up to adult/goalie XXL(Which fits really huge people)
