Chose Hexy for reasons mentioned but he has his flaws.

What happened to one of the most vicious/competitive players to play in the league? Is he on anti-depressants? Ritalin? Unleash the old HEXTALL!!

Homer made the ballsiest Trades in hockey history, and it forever set this organization in a good path. Of course he destroyed that path with a win now approach but the Carter and Richards trades were the most brilliant trades in this franchises history. Had he not made those moves when he did ( before their no trades kicked in) imagine the postion we would be in. That trade produced 3 of our 4 best forwards on the team currently.

Homer also got us to the finals and to conference finals.

Hexy is going to be the gm of the first flyers team to not have made it to the finals in a decade. We made the finals in the 70's 80's 90's and 2000's but won't in the 2010's.

Seriously. I'd go down to watch warm-ups when he came to St. Louis and stand right behind him, watching him Kung-Fu Tomahawk the pipes, and I was kind of scared, even though he was on my team. His old competitiveness and this bone marrow deep loyalty to this dunce ... it just doesn't compute.

ALSO - I have said this a million times, but he was part of a team absolutely flush with young players being thrown out there, and they had great success. He was one of them - he was right there in the middle of it. Why is he so timid now about them? Drives me ****ing crazy.

Hexy. While Homer did provide some generally better results in terms of where we were in the playoffs, Hexy getting Hak hasn't done shit for the Flyers. At all. Great draft picks and great signing prices, but dear lord is he letting his coach and PK coach off the hook way too f***ing often.

Neither.

Both have/had issues.

Homers get magnified and the 7 playoff series the team won in his tenure ignored.

Hextalls get minimized and the 0 playoff series the team won in his tenure ignored.

Hopefully they are on the way, bud.
You just see it with most young players like Konecny but there is no foward other than him and hes no stand out just good. Hate to say it but Hexy should have done what the leafs did finally and kill it from top to bottom and start over. Hexy is now caught in the middle and cant get out.

It all depends on the next coach, Mango - we can't judge what we are seeing now because we don't know how much Dumb Jeff is getting in the way. And there are a whole lot of guys on the way. We'll see.

It's a long season, it's been a long rebuild, primarily due to Holmgren farting around for two years and leaving the team in cap hell. Much harder to get value in trades when teams know you have to dump salary.

But one decent goalie and this is a top eight team, that's how BAD the goalies have been, the sloppy start, the injuries, all could be overcome with one man standing tall between the pipes and saying "No More."

Honestly me too. I fell asleep when they were up 5-2 against Florida and woke up to it tied. Fell asleep tonight at 1-0 and woke up to 4-2 lumbus. I might just stay asleep next time
Purposefully don't have a tv in the bedroom. So I fell asleep on the couch, was destined to wake up at some point in time. Wife coming home woke me up during one game (Fla), and wife coming back downstairs from giving the kid a bath woke me up last night.

The Flyers typically play a boring game for all but a few players, Voracek, Laughton, TK, Ghost, our goalies in a bad way, Giroux on the PP. And as a side note, the Weal line is actually decent, who'd a thunk it? So much so, that when NP and JVR get back, who's in favor of scratching Lehtera and one of Knight or Weise for a JVR-NP-Weise/Knight line? Laughton's line can be L4 if egos need such a determined label, and because TK isn't a t6 player, the Weal line can be L3, thus fulfilling the Hextall premonition at the beginning of the year that Weal could win the 3C position. Somehow, I forsee at a minimum Lehtera staying in the line-up regardless. (#ObviousHeelTurn)

Pretty sure blaming homer for the current state of this team is just dumb

Thinking about how Holmgren would fix this defense.

Konency for... who is the modern equivalent of 2012 Luke Schenn?

I was a defender of Homer but I still prefer Hextall. I do find it funny how much people hated Homer and how much you heard the word patience and stuff who are now mad because this team isn't as good as they want and the kids aren't playing yet (which isn't because they aren't ready...it is because Hextall/Hakstok is stupid!).

What kid is ready? Frost? Myers (not off presesaon)? NAK (ditto)?
We can see the difference between Sanheim last year and Sanheim this year.

Patience is a virtue few possess.
