It's brainless posts like this that cause the arguments.

If people would just think before they post, the majority of arguments would disappear.

The trolling/complaining is a cancer on this site. It kills any chance of real discussions.

Exactly.

There's comments like this that have no value to a discussion and are meant to chastise people like myself who believe in a proper rebuild (which is a stupid thing to make fun of).

It's like when I see a bunch of people call others snowflakes for having a liberal opinion politically -- meant to illicit a response of anger.

Engage in a casual yet legitimate conversation and it won't be so toxic.

Yeah I feel ya there. Sometimes a difference of opinion leads people to just bash you or etc. I think its more a lack of respect than anything else.
there are differences in opinions and then there are times when people are just flat out wrong [and/or using "alternative facts"]
seems to be a lot more of the latter & I'm not sure that those types of posts [ignorant] deserve any respect

Deadhead always gives reasons for his opinions, even if you disagree with his conclusions. It's not trolling to have unpopular opinions and to give your reasoning for them.

Also, I think people forget how often their own opinions are wrong. More posters than not were in favor of the Weise and Gordon signings, for example. Tons of posters wanted to trade for Mrazek last summer. Tons of posters loved the Filppula acquisition. Many thought Lindblom would be a 20 goal and 40-point scorer as a rookie (2 goals, 4 assists in 23 games). I sure look wrong on being so skeptical of the Wade Allison pick & in thinking Giroux wouldn't rebound to his former production.

There are plenty of posters who think I can't be right about anything because I'm not all-in on the "Hakstol is an idiot and killing the team" mantra, and/or because I think possession metrics often get overvalued and misused. To them, it isn't a difference of opinion; it's I'm flat-out wrong. If you make yourself the arbiter of what is 100% right or wrong, then it is never a difference of opinion. That's why it's probably good to remind yourself of the times your own perspective wasn't so flawless.

Hextall and his scouting staff have had 6 first round picks in their first 4 years. They've selected:

Sanheim (NHL top 4 defenseman)
Provorov (NHL top pair defenseman)
Konecny (NHL top 6 forward)
Rubstov (jury still out)
Patrick (NHL top 6 center)
Frost (top flight OHL forward)

That's a pretty tremendous record thus far with picks you need to hit on. And we have two more this year! This isn't even counting the picks in later rounds that look to be on the right track in Lindblom, Hart, Allison, Lacynski, even NAK, in terms of being able to play in the league with some success.

I have confidence in Hexy

I really think if Hextall fired Hak then the people that seem to be against him even a little would change their mind fast.

You bet your ass. His decision to stay loyal to a f***ing trainwreck of a coaching staff is the sole reason that faith in his vision has eroded in a portion of the fanbase. There is ZERO chance the Flyers ever win a Playoff series, let alone a Cup with this f***ing Scarecrow behind the bench; SO WHY IS HE STILL HERE?!?!

I think even just doing something about Lappy would've gone a long way. As much as Hak can be frustrating I can understand Hextall not axing him just yet. But keeping Lappy around, personnel excuses or no, is a joke.

I'd probably give Hakstol just a slightly longer leash (it isn't that long right now) if they would have fired Lappy. Hextall gets his leash cut a bit for saying the turn around for 20 games is a big reason to keep him compared to the years of poor PK.

Rebel is a bit irrational right now. Years of heart ache has worn on him.

Nah there's nothing irrational about being pissed off at a franchise for keeping the worst PK coach in the league for a 5th season after 4 terrible seasons in a row.

Otherwise, i'm pretty meh right now on everything. Not much to be excited about. We know going into next season already that they have no shot of doing anything with a league worst coaching staff and a bottom 5 goaltending tandem.

Oh I see deadhead. The personnel in charge for an abysmal penalty killer isn't responsible its only the players.

Two things happened, lost some real good PK guys in Talbot and Kimmo and Coburn.
But the real change seems to be goalies, xGA declined at first (personnel) then bounced back.
Lappy may deserve some blame, but there's a lot more going on than just changing coaches.
