ockey Expressen has a short interview with Bruins Prospect Linus Arnesson, where he says that - as his season with Djurgården is over - he is coming to America to play with the Providence Bruins.

Linus was our #14 Top 25 under 25 prospect this year:

I don't think he'll make the Boston Bruins this year, but if he can continue to impress we'll see him in Black and Gold soon enough.

And the year before, he was 19th:

By now it's no secret that Arnesson is a defense-first kind of blue-liner, and that his puck moving skills are seen as a bit of a weakness. His point totals listed above, as well as a 0-0-0 at the 2013 World Juniors, are evidence of that.

(h/t to PHT for noticing this)

Anyhow, looks like he's going to Providence. What do y'all think?

I bet you he is going to play a game in Boston this year.

What little I've seen of him reminds of a Seidenberg or Gunnarsson. Great skating stay at home guy. At least, that is what Seids once was. He also has a great first pass but it doesn't seem the offense is completely there.

I'm sure once he gets to Prov. and adapts to the american game, his puck moving skills will improve. From what I've seen of him, he is a decent skater, so he's got that going for him.
We need more stay at home guys, kinda like hmm...Boychuk. :p: We already have enough offensive defensemen, so it will be nice to have a good stay at home guy like him eventually.

Is his puck moving skills or his offensive skills a question? Puck moving can very much be about being able to carry the puck out of the zone and make a good first pass to start the breakout.

Clearly his offensive zone presence has been at best limited so far, but hopefully that doesn't mean he is defenseman who treats the puck like a hand grenade, or basically has to sit around and wait for a forward to come take the puck from him in the defensive zone

I am really excited. I think he is much higher than 14 on the B's prospect list, and would love to see him come over and show he is ready to compete for a spot in Boston next season

I'm glad to read that. With all the PMD and offensive D-men we have, Arnasson's stay-at-home style should fit in nicely either in Pro or Boston, eventually.

So when is he do to arrive ?

Seven to 10 days. He has to get a work visa. My husband had the same one - it states that you have a "singular skill" that can't be filled by a current citizen.

When my husband applied for a green card and the immigration official checked out his visa, he laughed and said they usually see those issued for "hockey players and brain surgeons." (My husband's skill was Irish baking. Yes, really.)

I'm pretty sure Clode said something about Arnesson not being ready to play with Boston this year. Then again, I read that in a Haggerty article (I misclicked).

Given our current semi-precarious playoff position, going all-in with Arnesson would be risky - but I could see it if he's eligible and we manage to continue our streak a few games. Wouldn't mind resting some of our key d-men if we can.

I liked the pick. Knew he was going to take a while to develop but he was a very safe pick... Made sure we got something out of the 2013 draft as we didn't have a 1st.

He's not flashy but I like the Seidenberg comparison. Mobile, good stick, great defensively. It'll take some time but he'll be a quality NHLer. Won't knock your socks off but we need a defensive specialist more than anything right now. Wouldn't mind putting him through a time machine 5 years ahead. I'm happy he'll be learning the North American game.

its too bad he is a left hand shot... I see kug/morrow occupying the two left hand shot spots behind chara for the next couple years.

I think that means Seidenberg is going to be getting used on the right side with Hamilton...

the one spot we have unclaimed is a third right side guy

Mr. Miller may have something to say about that.
