Wow thanks for the heads up. Obviously the question had more to do with the decision to base the film in London filled with British actors that the American audience is unfamiliar with.
I think these days that matters less and less. It's yet another comic based movie. Producers probably looking for any way possible to differentiate their product from aaaalll the other comic movies.

The issue was Del Torro had idea for 3rd film , script and planned to direct it but studio + creator didn't want him to have any role outside of a producing credit which lead to Del Torro moving on and Perlman leaving

This comes out this week and has zero buzz. Early reviews have it at 9% on RT. It sucks for David Harbour who's probably not getting too many shots at leading roles like this.

Literally no body asked for this. Add in that even more people didn't want to see a reboot/re-imagining without Del Torro and Pearlman involved.

There are just some people who are born/made for roles.

RDJ is Ironman
Patrick Stewart is Jean Luc Picard
Mark Hamil is the Joker
Ron Pearlman is Hellboy

Movie struggling at box office well below expectations from studio

Made $12M opening weekend well below the $17-20M the studio expected and word of mouth is terrible for movie

Given its $50M budget and expectation this will fall hard in coming weeks (Especially with word of mouth/reviews bad) its unlikely we will see future Hellboy films released at box office

Not a massive flop given its modest budget but still a flop for studio

Film is being pulled from most theaters now (Lost 2/3 of screens this weekend) and is averaging a paltry $55 per screen now

Entering its 4th weekend it has only grossed $21.6M in NA and foreign gross is just $18.1M thus far

Previous Hellboy (Hellboy II released in 2008) grossed $75.9M in NA + $84.4M Foreign

Reboot was DOA and it appears to have killed the Hellboy brand
