Word out of Chicago is that the Hawks are looking for a scoring RW to take the pressure off Sakic and Tanguay and provide some punch from the right side.

"We're in close discussion with a GM right now and something should be announced within the next couple of days. We wanted Allfie but they want just a little too much out there. We think we have a suitable match and a player that can help us for years to come. Expect to read a press release in the next couple of days pending the anouncement", said GM Dryden Lewis.

What the Hawks have up their sleeve could be anyones guess but they need to do something real fast if they want to make a move for a playoff spot. With almost half the season gone so far and just a couple spots and points out of the playoffs a move that could push them in has to be made. So far the defence has been improved but the offence hasn't made the same leap.

Up next the Sabres a team that has often put down the Hawks and stated that they haven't got enough to make the playoffs. With that GM Lewis has developed a friendly rivalry with GM Pitt and both teams are gearing up for the contest.

Word out of Chicago is that a deal was completed this morning. Coming to Chicago is Marius Czerkawski and $1,000,000. Leaving is a 3rd round pick in the upcoming draft. "We tried hard to get him here through free agency and when that fell apart we never gave up in our hopes of getting him to play on our top line. Hopefully this is the last piece of the puzzle that is needed and we can stick our noses into the playoffs."

Czerkaswki, 31 is currently enjoying a good NHL season (16 G 17 A and is on pace for 50 P) while underachieving for the Devil's. Hopefully this move will be enough to turn his season around and the Hawks playoff hopes at the same time.

Since this move involved no Hawks players, look for one of the following to be moved: Villie Nieminen, Todd Harvey or Ivan Ciernik. Anyone wishing to make an offer please send to [email protected]
