Now you mention it I think so, wasn't sure at the time if he'd broken it or just tied it.

Ian Turnbull actually has the record of 5 goals in a game for a defenseman (not in the playoffs though) I think he had a monster playoff game against the Flyers in 76 (5 points or something) but I don't believe he ever had a playoff hat trick...I could be wrong though...I just don't remember it happening.

Devils scrub defenseman Uli Hiemer had a hat trick vs. the Penguins back around 1986 on Halloween night.

Paul Coffey had a 4-goal with Edmonton. Denis Potvin had 5 hat-tricks in his career, including a 10-7 loss against Toronto in `78-`79 when he scored 3 in a row in less than 5 minutes. Reed Larson had 4 hat tricks in his career. Does anyone know who holds the record? Also, does anyone the actual career total number of hat tricks for Orr`s career? Considering how many hard-core Bobby Orr fans there are, someone must.

Steve Duchesne had one for the Blues in 93-94 I believe against Toronto, and Bryan Fogarty had one for the Nordiques in 90-91.

Dave Babych has the only hat-trick ever by a Canuck defender, coming against Calgary (including the OT winner) in 1991-92.

In addition to having his record 5-goal game, Ian Turnbull also has one of the only three 4-goal games for defenders since the 1920s.
