Has RNH finally flipped the coin?

The only reason he has never hit 60 points is because of injuries. To say he is a 40-50 point player away from McDavid is not accurate at all. He's had one poor offensive season in his career.
#1 overall and not a 60 point season? He had 4 goals in the shortened season (40 games) That’s a bad season.

Drafted first overall, had some good years to start but then fell flat like a lot of other Oilers first round picks. Really struggled for a while then all of a sudden bam, the perfect winger for McDavid. Has RNH finally found where he belongs in Edmonton and can start living up to the hype of being selected first overall so many years ago?

I personally think he is just riding off McDavid but it is good to see him with more offence success.

He's not just leeching off of McDavid. He was on pace for career highs centering Lucic and Puljujarvi the first half of last season. His offensive confidence is back to where it was in his first few seasons. Maybe not quite that level but much more confident than he was a few seasons ago.
The defensive game is as good as it ever has been.

He was playing with one shoulder that season and was eventually shut down to have surgery once the Oilers were out of the playoff race.

RNH is a better winger than center. He should have been converted long ago, but they needed him to play center. He has also been too unselfish at times in his career. He defaulted to defense often when he played with Hall and Eberle. He had difficulties finding the right balance between offense and defense for a few seasons. He seems to be better at balancing offense and defense as a winger better than as a center. He finally started to tilt his game back to offense last season even before he started playing with McDavid.

Take him off McDavid’s line and he’s a 40-50 point player. He’s not a bad player, though.
You knew this was coming when he started playing on Connor's line. First we had to deal with this shit with Drai, now Nuge. Unbelievable. Nuge is still a great 2 way 50-60 point 2c without Mcdavid.

He's always been pretty good - he just didn't produce huge offensive numbers like he did in his 18 year old season. He put too much focus on his defensive game TBH and his offensive game didn't grow.

On McDavid's wing, he can focus mostly on offence now but he's also a really good 2-way player. The Oilers are lucky he developed chemistry with McDavid... there was a time he was looking like an overpaid 3C who couldn't win faceoffs... now he's playing at a PPG clip and a strong 2-way guy. Pretty good for 6M.
