Has Bergevin made us a better team so far this summer? Part 3

Will Bergevin fill a need with a major acquisition before the start of the 2019-2020 season?

Previous tales of your favorite mortician exercising his power to bury players in the AHL, had reached over 1000 posts.

Part 3 is upon us!

Where is he going anyway? It seems awfully quiet. No rumours, nothing. Training camp just around the corner. Should be a golf tournament coming up for fresh fodder.

He's doing Route 66. Tumbleweeds.

Lost our 2nd best RW, our two core players continue their journey into the wrong side of 30, effectively did nothing to address actual needs on the left side of the defense. Only positives are Caufield who won't be on the team, Kinkaid hopefully, and Cousins as depth

No.
Shaw, Benn, Dlo, Niemi > Cousins, Chiarot, Barber, Kinkaid.

Beyond that, we're relying on consecutive years of league-leading injury lucko, majority of top-6/top-4 players having PB seasons & a few prospects exceeding expectations... Basically what every single team hopes for.

Nothing has been done to address key needs (PP, LD, top-6 talent), we downgraded the top 6 (Shaw was our most productive winger last year, Cousins is a 4th liner and none of our internal options are realistically going to come close to .75ppg) and made a lateral-at-best LD swap at a bigger cap expense.

Must be nice to be paid millions yet have no accountability or expectations

Here it never ends. Can win multiple cups and people will still be *****ing about how the won.

I've been here for over a decade & could not disagree more with your assessment.

Heck, just look at MB's tenure... By year two, it was clear he was over his head & MT/Lefebvre were terrible options. Yet, some good regular season results (buyoed by Price & PK going all-world) led to mass support and appreciation for MB.
It took 7-8 years of consistent incompetence for the tide to shift and the justified criticism to be accepted/shared by the majority.

If anything, the desperation to have hope or something positive to spin is a more predominant description of posting here...

Win a cup, just one, or even just guide the team to a finals, and MB would be deified by many & all the previous years of inept management would be forgiven if not wholly forgotten

Winning a cup forgives a great deal does it not? Many have faltered throughout history in a variety of endeavors, yet are predominantly forgiven for winning at a crucial moment in time.

In essence all the blame should be put on SS then no? He was the one who gave the nod to hire MB over PM.

A lot of talk this summer, understandably so. But I’m ready for the year to start. I’m ready to see how the young players progress this year, the ones in and outside the nhl .

The team won’t be better because of any of bergevins moves or lack there of this summer, it will be better if the young guys are able to take that extra step and if price maintains his play from last season.
