Wade Boggs. The man once drank 70 beers on a cross country flight then totally destroyed the Seattle Mariners the next day. Rest in Peace.
The guy with his name engraved on the Stanley Cup 3 times? Sure, total waste.

Now I'm trying to think of a worse ratio of player ability:team performance over a sustained period of time, but can't really think of anything that comes close to a generational player missing the playoffs in (probably) 3 of 4 years. There's got to be a case of somebody in the pre-cap world though, right?
Wade isn't dead though fyi.
Stupid thread, the kid is only 22.
And he'll be on a bad team for at least another 3-4 years.
Does your crystal ball say this?
They are 6 points out of a playoff spot right now, with a little luck they could still make the playoffs but I doubt it for this year.
Oh my god, fans of western teams are out of their ****ing minds.
I say this as somebody arguing against the same general delusion on the Blackhawks forums.
**** teams are in playoff 'contention' because the west, in aggregate is trash. But the teams at the top of the west, are actually quite good, and would kick the ever loving **** out of whichever team in the wildcard race ultimately wins the tallest midget contest.
Scraping into the playoffs in a year where it takes 10 fewer points (minimum) to do so, doesn't mean you're on the right track, it means you lucked out in a fluke year.
By all means, build around that. I love comedy.
Colorado has a much better futures collection than Edmonton. Made the playoffs last year, and would have easily made it this year with average goaltending.Nathan MacKinnon has yet to win a playoff round and it looks like the Avs are floundering again this year. Lemieux didn't even play in the playoffs at this point in his career.
