Didn`t always have the greatest relationship with my father, much of it was my fault and I needed to change. I did just that and worked hard at being the son I should have been. Things still weren`t perfect but the wrongs I did, I took responsibility for which led to Dad and I being as close as we could be with him being someone who wasn`t exactly emotionally present and certainly not the kind of father who would put his arm around you and let you know he loved you but he showed it in other ways and I miss him as he`s been gone 5 years now
I was a horrific father myself, absent, deadbeat and drowning in addiction. Finally woke up, got help and got well and my son and I now have a terrific relationship which I am grateful for.
Happy Father`s Day, my only advice, if you have a beef with your dad, try to settle it before it`s too late, can`t tell you how grateful I was/am that I was able to spend 10 clean and sober years getting to know and understand my father

My first year being a father on father's Day and I had a lovely card and a little present waiting for me when I woke this morning. Fatherhood is proving to be the gift that keeps on giving.

I checked my email at 5 AM and there was an Amazon gift card with this note attached "Happy Father's Day! Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for me. You have taught me so much and spending time with you is always fun. Sincerely, Sean".

Happy Father's Day to all the dads here. My Dad and I have never been close, just the way it is. My advice, just love your kids unconditionally and try not to judge their choices. Accept them and support them.

My dad has some interesting quirks and can be quite grating at times (my own emotions have now been confirmed by my girlfriend of 3 years), but he has always been an extremely supportive and caring father. He’s not perfect, but no one is. I truly couldn’t ask for a better dad.

So my kids got me a fathers day card , it's so perfect I thought I'd share
I imagine some dads out there can relate , this is perfect for me. Looks like they actually read a few before choosing.
WHY DO WE NEED DADS?
To give us " suggestions " if we say we're bored
To prove that instructions can just be ignored...
To often remind us to turn off the light
To make sure we know when to come home at night...
To teach us to dribble ,to catch and to throw
To kindly remind us where cash doesn't grow...
To squash bugs and lift stuff and fix things that break
To bring home the bacon and grill a great steak
To make up an answer that sounds like it's true
To show us what pulling a finger can do...
To coach us and guide us and make things more fun
That's why we need dads - and your a great one!
