Interesting to see that. I'm a Red Sox fan and though Hanley was doing good so far aside from a recent cold streak.

At the beginning of this month, he was hitting .330. He hasn't even slumped for a month, yet has a very short leash? :huh:
Or he must have done something egregious in the clubhouse.

He's declining. Not a bad move since Boston has bats and money. It also gives him a chance to catch on somewhere else.

I don't really get the mutual option hand-wringing...you can play the guy 120 games and not vest the option and you probably wouldn't play him any more than that anyway with the players the Red Sox have. I guess they just didn't want it getting within 100 AB's to where the yelping would be louder.
