I am personally on the fence about it. That is I would be if #5 wasn't already retired.

In this case, because we don't have #5 in use as it is, the fact that he was part of the big three...it's an easy choice.

When it comes to really good (bordering on great) players, to honour them by retiring their number....that is already retired. Why not?

If you're going to start a thread about a former great being honoured, do him the honour of spelling his name right: Lapointe.

This is how I feel. If his number wasn't already retired I'm not sure how I feel. The fact that it is, though... whatever. Put his name in the rafters.
