There wasn't any reason for him to writhe in agony, he got hit with a shot, that hurts if you get hit in the right spot. There wasn't anything to be dramatic about.

I've seen tons of players taken shots to their ankles without that kind of reaction, he was back on the ice within 5 minutes. It's not the first time he's overacted on an injury during a game, it's a part of his character. Other than that he played a great game.
