His injury not only decreased his total points for the year, it also decreased his points per game. Because when he came back too early, he wasn't the same player and his production fell. Contracts are often based on numbers, and his numbers weren't what they would have otherwise been.

He's not a star, but his work with Radulov and Pacioretty on his wings proved to me that he can fill a 2nd line role. If we had two lines of the caliber of Pacioretty-Danault-Radulov, that's enough to contend with a strong dcore and Price at his best.

I'm guessing Danault gave up some cash for a chance to cash in as a 28 year old UFA. An extra couple of years would have brought that AAV way up.

For Bergevin, not so much Danault. I would of giving him 4-5 yrs @ 4M/per. This is practically highway robbery.

Only knock on his deal (and i might be wrong here) it brings Danault to UFA status, a 2 years deal would have been better because of that, but still decent deal.

Great contract Thought it'd be a little more. He'll be a UFA at the end of it though
