Have we ever had a season opening at home like the Leafs always do?

Habs always seem to start with 3ish game road trip. That lockout shortened season was an exception, I think.... But beyond that, you probably have to go way way back to see when the habs started at home.

Just wondering, is it a coincidence that we always start the season against the Leafs or is there a reasoning behind it?

No, it's probably something the Canadian networks request to start their broadcasting season.

Off the top of my head, the season openers either tend to be against the leafs or sabres in general.

It's better to have the first couple of games on the road so that by the time you have your own home opener the expectations of the fans are more realistic. By the time the puck drops for our first home game on October 11th everyone will already know that this team is going nowhere.
Yea. A must win for the habs to keep play offs hopes alive.

They set an all time low in getting shut out last season. (or all time high )

They may be able to hit 20 this year.

Have the worst road record in the league in back to back seasons too.

Some lofty goals and expectations fore this powerhouse MB built team.

Are you guys as sick of Leafs/Habs to open the season like we've had like 9 of the last 10 syears as I am?

Some variety would be nice.
