The special teams cost us last night...PP and the PK need work...

PP and the defense is ridiculous, it can go from looking great to the worst thing you have watched in the matter of a period. The PK has been pretty bad all year. I dont know why they are so passive when the complete opposite was great last year and most, if not all of the top pk's have guys pressuring.

I'll give you that for Gionta, although Markov certainly looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. Cole too, mostly when it came time to backcheck.

Markov looks burnt out more than anything else. He has zero acceleration right now; we don't need him to be fast out there but he can't be struggling to move either. I'm not ready to panic and call it an injury or whatever, but I think Therrien made a massive mistake leaning on him so hard for the first two weeks, even if the initial results were great.

I wouldn't mind using him like he's Kaberle for a while, make him a 3rd pairing PP specialist so he can rest a bit.

It's hilarious that the knives are out for Eller the second he slips up. Where was all this negativity when he was one of our best players for the last 3-4 games? Now it's "he has no creativity", "didn't show any grind", etc.

The guy's 23. Look at the pathetic effort from some of the veterans on this team wayyy before you start picking apart Eller.

Not EVERYBODY was on Eller weiner during his points streak. People were screaming when some were comparing Eller to Bulis, which was not so off.

You are right, we shouldn't blame Eller cause is not one of our top player. He is not the guy who is gonna win game by himself or drag the team on his shoulder. At best, he is a solid 3rd liner, and there is nothing wrong with that.

He used him a lot because PK was not around, and he was producing as hell. But now, he should cut his ice time a bit and give more time to PK.

I'm not sure Cole has ever been that good of a backchecker. Last year, that line was rarely in our defensive zone so he never had too.

As for Markov, he's slowed down considerably. I don't think it's a lack of effort though. It may be a lack of gas in the tank. He's played double the games this season than he had in the past two seasons combined. I would't be opposed to giving him a few days rest, similar to what the Panthers were doing with Jovocop before his injury.

Good teams hold onto leads, mediocre teams give them up like its going out of style.

Jekyl/Hyde type BS. What is it? It seems like something that can be fixed, but hasn't been identified.

Right on. I want Eller on this team. But let's be realistic about his skils and talent. Sky is not the limit for him.

Neither is calling him a 3rd liner at best, which implies his upside is 30 points.

Considering he's already an above average third line C....

The double standards used to bash eller are getting to be hilarious. And not many, if any, have said that the sky is the limit for eller.

This looks like the kostitsyn threads of years past, where one group would argue that Andrei's production fell in line with that of most 2nd line wingers and that he was a luxury on the third line. This some how translated into people 'saying he was a superstar'. Strawman arguments for everyone!

I am still baffled by the usage of our defensemen by Therrien, because they make absolutely no sense at all.
Subban should have been sent on the top-pairing a long time ago. Well, 10 games is not that long, but in such a compressed season, its difficult to understand him on that point.

Sky is not the limit for Eller, but 25 points last year playing with...that kind of linemates while showing good abilities on the PK should be enough to give him some responsabilities.
Its sad that an injury to a rookie was needed to promote him into a new role...

Judging by some of the comments here you would think that we had won 1 of ouf 6 and at the bottom of the conference instead of first. You can critique the team last night, no problem there, but man, the sense of entitlement here is ridiculous. Be rational guys.

I am very disappointed by the loss, this is I think the third lost we've had after being up by more than 2 goals late in the second/third period. It happens, but we need to be better.

Pk should get more minutes, Markov should get less minutes, he is tired. I'll take the 1 point, we are playing wayy above expectations. Bad defence cost us the game, Price was good, not great, but good. Wasn't his fault.

No need to find scapegoats, we just need to continue to improve on every little area.

Are you really comparing Akost with Eller? AKos have a lot more brute talent than Lars, it's not even a question.

I don't see how I bashed Eller? Please give me a valid argument on why should Eller be on our first 2 lines right now? Explain me how he could bring more on the 2 first line than Pac-Plek-DD-Gallagher-Gally-Bourque.

The guy of course possess some offensive skill and he could get around 40 points on our 3rd line without too much pressure. He cleary have difficulty underpressure with the puck and he is not a fantastic playmaker. His shot is not is best assest.

Nobody say the guy could not develop in the futur, he is 23, every player under 25 could grow into a solid player, but right now, pretending that he would be the answer offensively on the 2 first line is favoritism. People want him with Plekanec, the guy who play against the best line all the time.. Eller couldn't handle it right now.

I'm sick of people crying about the use of Eller by MT. The kid is getting his ice time and play with Galchenyuk and Prust again lesser competition, which his perfect for him.

Too many negatives:
- Can't not protect the 2 goals lead twice
- Penalty-killing is mediocre
- Constant icing ! OMG  I can't believe it

Anyone has a video of Therrien’s post game media scrum? That was short... Therrien pulled a Tortorella!

EDIT:

http://www.rds.ca/vidéos/rds.video.120602

They left the best part out: when he used a small pause in the flow of questions to leave the place! However the "Y’as-tu quelqu’un qui parle à l’autre boutte là?" *1 at 1:07 is gold!

*1 Roughly: "I hear noise in the back… is there someone talking in the back?!"

I didn't compare them as players. I compared the strawman arguments that surrounded the players. I also never said that you bashed anybody. You should probably read posts before replying to them.

As for people wanting him to play with Pleks? Who said that? Not that many, I don't think. Most people who appreciate Eller's game think that he is of much better use at centre, not the wing.

Even if Eller plays on the wing, Plekanec isn't a good fit, at least on the offensive end. Plekanec is a north-south player who plays with intelligence but little pure creativity, if Eller must play on the wings, both Gally and Desharnais are better fits next to him. Plekanec always plays at a high tempo, and Eller is already guilty of rushing it too much.

In terms of Subban, I think his reduced ice time is with a specific objective. To get him playing the way they want and not to play a ton and make a lot of mistakes. It's a case of "you want more? Then clean up your defensive play and puck mangement.".

The downside of that is Markov looks a bit tired the last few games, he's lost a step and his decidions are not as crisp as they usually are. The compacted games surely don't help.

Aye. I also think that using Eller on Plek's wing would be wasting our second best two way C. Would probably be a beast shutdown line, but we saw last year how effective putting all your eggs in one basket was, in terms of tough/easy minute allotment.

Then who are you talking about when you say people are bashing him? Most of the people just don't find the inconditional admiration for Eller justified.

Do a little bit a research on this board, you will find a lot of proposition for Eller with Plek.

His only place on the 2 lines, if any, is at the wing. DD and Pac have proven to be a solid duo, and DD his a superior playmaker than Eller. There is no way Eller is gonna take the place of Pleky or DD.

I wouldn't mind seeing Eller and Plek together on the PK, but Prust seems to be a nice fit with Plek there so it's not necessary.

Unconditional? Give your head a shake. Many have admitted that this was one of Eller's worst games this year. There are people calling this kid a 4th liner. That is irrational hate for a player who has irrefutably proven to be much more than just a 4th line checker.

As for doing research on this board, I probably read more posts here than anyone else. Unless there are a few outliers that slipped by me, I don't think there have been many claiming that Eller should play with pleks. And he shouldn't, for the reasons Et le But and myself just detailed. So do your own research.

And nobody has suggested that Eller should replace Pleks. So again, research. As for replacing DD, many arguments can be made for trying Eller in place of DD. Playmaking is of course an area where DD has Eller beat. DD also has Pleks beat in that department. It doesn't mean that DD is better than pleks. Because he isn't, far from it. As for point production, as of 2 games ago (the stats site I uses hasn't updated since then, yet, it'll be tighter now) Eller was ahead of DD in terms of 5v5 p/60 production and 5v4 p/60 production. And as for Maxpac and DD being a great duo, of course they are. Maxpac has produced with everyone he's played with. He's produced more with Pleks, in fact. Eller already has his faceoff % above DD, so at the very best you could argue that DD is on par. On the whole, Eller is a better defensive player, this is indisputable.

Now, you'll probably try and twist this into me saying that Eller is a slam dunk 2nd line center and should replace DD ASAP. I'm not. I'm saying that the argument can easily be made that Eller deserves that chance, because the Canadiens organisation will be the one to profit most out of properly evaluating it's talent.

No chance on any of the goals

Goal 1 - Tip in from 3 feet
Goal 2. Moulson left alone in the LOW slot - No Chance
Goal 3 Trailer was left alone and walked in and took a perfect shot
Goal 4 Diax needs to tie that man up at the side of the net...NO CHANCE for Price

This was not on Price at all......The only goal he MAY have had a shot on was goal 3 but it was a perfect shot!
Yep, I'm all for calling out Price when he doesn't play great but to me the only goal he maybe could have had was the third one...maybe.

So habs go on a 5 game winning streak. Allow 2 goals in 4 of those games and all it takes is one loss for people to throw around end of the world statements. The habs are not bipolar, the fans are.

Teams lose boys and girls.

Thank you!

The bipolarity of our fans is off the charts, kinda sad if you ask me.

Thank God our GM isn't.
