Speculation: Habs just gained $3.75 million in cap space. Trade incoming?

We shall see. No way he waves in order to go to a bottom feeder team, no reason too. He'll make more money forcing the Avs to buy him out and gettinf another contract.

So either they go 4-4, and lose Kadri, or go 7-3 and lose Toews if they decide no to buy out EJ.

It'll be fun to watch

Why would Colorado leave the guy they just traded two seconds and signed to a bargain contract available lol?

Why would the Avs not just go Rants, MacK, Kadri, Landy (if re-signed), Toews, Girard, Makar, EJ, exactly...? I’d love to see the scenario in which the Avs have to lose Kadri or Toews. Do tell.

I mean in the hypothetical scenario where he does waive. Why would Seattle want him? He's expensive and highly injury prone. I personally think the Avs would have to pay Seattle to take him.

Is Graves available? What would be the price?

Graves availability due to the LHD depth and exposure to the expansion draft.

AVs are likely expecting 2nd + 3rd/B prospect (2021 or 2022 draft). He's young only 26 years old and big 6'05 @ 220 lbs. Contract has 2.5 years remaining.

Oh I just thought with Newhook coming in they'd rather lose Kadri's contracr vs Donskoi

3rd pairing dman aren't worth a 2nd + 3rd / B prospects.

A 3rd alone, a B prospect alone, but every team in the NHL has at least 3 dman they'd protect before Graves, making his value minimal to any team acquiring him

AVs lack C depth. Newhook is likely playing 3C. Donskoi is a streaky winger. Kadri is on a cheap short term contract and fills a need.

The Avs would buy out EJ if he doesn’t waive. They won’t be wasting a protection slot on that China doll.

Avs would be fortunate to have Seattle take Donskoi. JTC getting picked is too fortunate to be a reality. Seattle won’t have interest there.

Graves is likely the one they’ll take.

Depends on the team. Graves is 3rd pairing on the AVs, but playing on the Habs would be 2nd pairing.

Flat cap era, having 2M$ in dead cap for 6years after he's bought out (cause it's ded not in his own interest to waive) on a young team with a lot of contracts coming to an end in the next 2-3years, not sure.

He's bit better than Edmundson, Chiarot or Romanov, so no he wouldn't play on the 2nd pair, sorry

Either your math is terrible or you don’t know how buyouts work. It’s $2mm for four years. Plus we get relief in 2022 and 2023 vs what would have been his $6mm AAV.

he also knows seattle won’t take him. Hockey players waive NMC all the time. He’ll waive his and Seattle will take Graves or Donskoi anyway.
