Looks like Janne Lahti, so he should be on our 1st line.

Just kidding, of course highlights exists to show the best, but he sure seems to have good hands, and seems pretty agile, on top of having seemingly decent speed. Big, skilled forward. I don't mind those guesses once in a while, they rarely pan out but hey, if we don't try, we'll never know.

We have nothing to lose by showing interest and letting him battle for a Top 6/9 role.

As others have mentioned, with injuries throughout the season he’d likely get some good looks.

Low risk / medium reward.

Sure, free wallet but we've never gotten anyone that more than like 1 team was in on before, don't expect it to start now.

Scoring 31 goals in the KHL isn’t good? He was 4th in the league in goals. Come on man. Gignac couldn’t even manage more than 24 goals in the QMJHL or more than 19 goals in the AHL. Stop this.
At 20% shooting rate while not producing any other season ? No it’s nothing special

Like I said earlier, got get actual physical nhl player and go get good veteran to surround a young team in Laval

He’s 25. He’s developing. He went from 12 to 25 to 47 points.

Yeah, 4th in goals is something special. It’s better than whatever our AHL plugs are doing.

He's got some mitts and offensive instincts, which is good. Nice looking shot as well.

Looks to be Armia-esque.
Looks like a finesse player. Very few penalty minutes throughout his career.

The Litmus test should be if you can't outproduce Jordan Weal you should stay where you are.
But then again, it's not like I care about which plugs we decide to play on the bottom-6 (for now).

Outproducing Weal or not should not matter. Kaprizov would not outproduce Jordan Weal by much if at all. Kaprizov best season was 62 points in 2019-2020 at 22 years old.

You can't make comparison across year like that, since league change over the course of time, in 2019-20 the league leader had 65 points in 2023-24 the league leader had 89 points, it's close to a 40% increase, so ultimately the league Kaprizov played in isn't representative of the league Weal is playing in.

10 teams interested? All things being equal (and I seriously doubt that) it means we have a slightly better chance with him than winning the lottery. On the other hand, we won with Sekac and Radulov, that's twice, maybe we won't be allowed to win again?

It's crazy the amount of our fans who don't get we have no room. We need to create room not the opposite.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Newhook-Dach-Roy

This is already 6 spots reserved for kids who imo project as solid top 9 NHL player. On top of that we have a bunch of interesting prospects who will make their AHL debut next season in Beck, Mesar, Tuch. Kapanen and Xhekaj will likely follow the season after.

On top of that we will likely draft a forward with our 5th overall pick this summer. We are kind of stuck with Anderson and Gallagher for now. So total that 6 spots reserved for the kids listed above. One spot probably reserved for our 5th overall and two spots reserved for Anderson and Gallagher. So that's 9 already.

If we can land an elite player at the beginning of his prime (26) then fine we'll make room for him but we don't have the room for gamble like Maxim Tsyplakov it would be a waste of time for no reason. Unless KH is 100% convinced this guy is a late bloomer and will become someone he should pass.
Sorry, but that isn't a second line that wins you games.

So do you think Karpsiov would have had 120 points last year? Big ices are different. Lot of skilled soft players unable to adapt to the NHL will have success over there. Doesn't make the other players whose skills translate to the NHL better not good.

I don't know if this guy's skills translate to the NHL better than Weal but him not being more productive than Weal means nothing imo. The year Kaprizov had 62 points a certain Linus Omark had 54 points. Omark best NHL season was 27 points.
