It's in these moments, when all hope seems lost, that greatness is revealed.

We will regroup and bounce back.

Unfortunately we couldn't shake:

1) The 7 days break lack of synchronization
2) A few unlucky bounces leading to a loss of momentum
3) Adjusting to Vegas' high speed high pressure system when they lead

...all during the first game in a new city for the first time in front of a big crowd after a long break.

It wasn't possible to reverse the bulldozer once it was on.

Let's take a deep breath and regroup for Game 2. Even if we lose that one, we're coming back to MTL and we can win our two home games, then use that momentum to win in Vegas for Game 5. Then win Game 6 at home.

We only need to win ONE road game. Could be Game 2, could be Game 5, could be Game 7. Price can steal that game for us. But we need to win all home games.

Fleury doesn't look unbeatable. Just need to do more of that first period next game. Less of the mid-second to early-third.

Trade Price to Vegas so he can win a Cup. He's the best goalie in the world but he's stuck with Bergevin.

We had a crap ton of bobbles and bad passes, being way out of position and unforced errors that had nothing to do with Vegas.
Disagree. Bounces are going to happen, on both sides.
We have unforced errors because Vegas applies a lot of pressure, so naturally our guys feel they have to make quick decisions with the puck...leading to unforced errors. That's due to Vegas.

It's just because the momentum is completely on their side. Easy to play great and look as if youre invincible when everything going for you and your opponent is mentally defeated for the night. Let,s see in Game 2.

And there we have it. After character, attitude and luck, the new excuse is here.

Momentum.

Or maybe it's just that good teams often have momentum against weaker teams.

Vegas are pretty good at gaining, establishing and maintaining control in the offensive zone, while the Habs are a one trick poney of hustle to the puck.

That's why you need dmen with offensive skills. You'd think after 9 years, someone being proclaimed a maestro would've caught on to this by year 2 at the very least, especially when he had two shining examples right in front of him.

Well it's not really an "excuse" as it is an explanation.

Vegas scored a fluke goal that completely shifted the momentum. You have to be blind not to realize the clear demarcation between how we played before and after the 1st goal. We never recovered.

Have you ever played hockey?

Game 1 was just a test of mettle and see where the strengths are. The Habs can win, scoring Dmen or not. This isn’t over yet.

Believe.
