Getting RDS a couple years ago was a real eye opener for me. I never realized how much the CBC commentating irritated me until I opted to try and watch the Hockey Night in Canada Leafs vs. Habs games. I can't even get through a period. The last time I bothered to sit through the whole thing was last year when I had a roommate who was unwilling to watch the game in French. I understand none of what is said other than the odd penalty and the ET LE BUUUUUL, but it still feels so much better.
I'm with you .. I only understand a little bit of what is being said... I kind of piece stuff together here and there.. but last night I chose to watch the game on CBC and it was really something .. just ridiculous! i kept thinking to myself "is it just me being a sensitive fan or are they really being this bad?" then they just kept getting more and more obvious and it became apparent... i couldn't believe it .. not gonna lie i puked a little in my mouth with half the **** they were spewing..
the one line that got me the most was when they had just finished talking about how great of a save Reimer had, went to commercial (the whole time thinking to myself did i hear a post?), and then they came back and looked at it closer.. and it turned out that the puck got through Reim and rang off the post. at this point i was like ok well at least they're gonna tone down the homerism after being caught .... ya right... not more than 2 mins later they do a whole segue way bit about how the posts are saving Carey Price... and how hes the only person on the ice that's thankful to hear that sound.. at that point one of em actually was like OK that's a little too far and the other guy was like oh OK .. i cant tell who's who.. but at that point i was like are you serious... i actually started yelling at the TV .. and i don't mean normal yelling at the team to get it together kinda stuff... thank god no one else was home
Oh CBC, the hockey broadcast that will make you actually lose your mind one piece at a time
