Rask didn't have a great season. So maybe selling low for picks/meh prospects as a dump or a equally meh contract coming back?

I recall a Canes fan coming up with a Rask for Shaw proposal earlier this season and a lot of Habs fans would have taken that deal.

I'm glad we passed on the rumored two 2nd round picks for him, though. He could be a decent addition for our middle six, but he doesn't really fix our pressing need for a high end center. Might as well build up our prospect pool until that gets addressed.

Rask would be a good second/third line Centre. He's 6-2. Two things habs need centre depth and size

The potential for the deal may have died with yesterday's blockbuster. Carolina could get away with trading Rask if it had Lindholm to center a Top 9 line if Aho or Necas couldn't cut it. Trading Rask now would leave the team with no depth in the middle of the ice.

No interest in Shaw for Carolina. Montreal missed the boat there. Canes already added Martinook and Ferland on top of Svechnikov, McGinn, Williams, Zykov, and Foegele. The bottom-9 is packed with gritty wingers.

Well, according to our GM, there's no such thing as 'too many gritty and character wingers'.
Come on, lets trade ! :)

Picks and a prospect, because Victor Rask is the guy Montreal thinks puts them over the top.
