Get your markers out! The much-anticipated reveal of the 2014-15 NHL schedule has arrived.

After seven exhibition games between September 23 and October 4, the Canadiens will kick off the NHL’s regular season campaign on October 8 with a tilt against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre at 7 p.m. EST. It will mark the sixth time in as many seasons that the Canadiens will battle their archrivals in the league’s first game of the year.

Eighty-one games later, the Air Canada Centre will also play host to the Canadiens’ regular season finale, as Michel Therrien’s troops will close out the year in Toronto on April 15, 2015.

Fans waiting impatiently to see the Habs battle the Boston Bruins won’t have to wait too long as Claude Julien’s contingent will be in Montreal for the home opener at the Bell Centre on October 16.

The Canadiens’ 2014-15 campaign features 16 sets of back-to-back games, including a rare home-and-home series against the Sabres. The Habs will take on Buffalo at the First Niagara Center on November 28 before returning to Montreal for a game the next night at the Bell Centre.

As per tradition, snowbirds will have the opportunity to celebrate the New Year by watching the Canadiens take on the Panthers in Florida on December 30, 2014 before the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge make their way to New Jersey to play their first game of 2015 three days later.

You can also circle December 12 on your calendars. That’s when the reigning Stanley Cup champions – the Los Angeles Kings – will take on the Canadiens in Montreal.

Youngsters will enjoy the traditional Family Weekend games that will both be played at 1 p.m. EST. The Washington Capitals will be town on January 31, and the Arizona Coyotes will square off with the Canadiens on February 1.

The Canadiens will play 22 Saturday games over the course of the 2014-15 season, in addition to playing 19 on Tuesdays and 17 on Thursdays. With that in mind, you’re better off choosing Fridays (5 games), Wednesdays (6 games) or Sundays (6 games) for other activities. Mondays (7 games) might also be a good choice.
