So Khabi hurt his groin against Phoenix and then they figured it was wise to see if a 40 year old injury player could bounce back the next game and miraculously heal his groin and not hurt it worse. Professional hockey team run by a bunch of amateurs.

This exactly.

Starting Khabibulin prior to knowing about an injury in the last game was a stupid decision. But when you know your injury prone goalie at the age of 40, who has had groin problems consistently in the past, has a sore groin and you play him anyway... are these people brain dead?

Such mind numbing incompetence at display. What is it with this organization and their continuing inept handling of injuries?

Does this organization do anything right?

Souray was right. He always was, he's still right.

Players should have to wear green stars on their bellies if they're hurt. Maybe somebody would notice. But that would be sneetching..

Yep dumb ass organization , tweaks his groin in PHX so they make sure to dress him again so it realy gets pulled. Could of been traded for a good return now on ir. The calaminty of errors by this teams brass is longer than war and peace. Hope Katz wakes up and sees the light.

Thanks, just happened today. Was more surprised then anyone.

Yeah not to off topic but congrats on that. Good to see you with the purple.

On topic, I too am getting disgusted with this organization. Playing Khabby when they knew he was injured would be new low, imo.

Im thinking Khabby didnt tell them that until after the Chicago game.

BELIEVE IN DUBY.

I have $400 riding that you guys make the playoffs. GIVE HIM SOME LOVE.

Oh, dude... 400 bucks?

I hope for your 400 bucks (and the sanity of all Oiler fans) that they start playing better, but... I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

Doesn't Khabbi injure his groin every year? I think he's pulled it so many times, there's not much ligament and/or tendon left.

Thanks, just happened today. Was more surprised then anyone.

Wow, a Global Mod coming from HF Oilers board; I think that's a first, isn't it? Congrats!

Spawn was a global before he retired.

Cloned was a global mod, others too.

The Oilers board tends to be a breeding ground of such things.

People like that theres better buffet, drinks, and room service I'm guessing.

Congrats Crusher. Bring down the hammer on the Calgary board.

This board is just too quick to blame the org for anything and everything...jeebus:

The news of the day came early in the morning when the Oilers announced that Nikolai Khabibulin was being placed on the injured reserve. Yann Danis was called up from nearby Oklahoma City and joined the team at practice.

Oilers head coach Ralph Krueger said that Khabibulin had initially tweaked his groin in the shootout on Saturday against Phoenix but he recovered from that prior to Monday's contest in Chicago.

"On the last play of the game, when he went across on Sharp's second shot in OT before the Hossa triple rebound he felt the same kind of tweak (that he had in Phoenix) so initially we thought it was going to run the same course, that it was going to go away but as we traveled on the plane and we arrived yesterday he was inactive for awhile and it got cold. It was quite clear that it was worse than after the Phoenix game and as a result we're going to send him home for an assessment. He'll get proper medical care there to have an MRI

So yeah, umm he was fine until the very last play of the game in Chicago....put away the pitchforks maybe, and quit with the asinine assumptions? Just once for cripes sakes...

This board kills me sometimes...:shakehead

Um, obviously he HADN'T recovered.

You're inadvertently making a supporting argument that the org doesn't exercise due diligence in these matters.

So Khabbi saying everything is a-ok and the trainers saying everything was a-ok means nothing to you? You're obviously more educated on this issue than the actual people involved...you were right there i take it, and did a diagnosis? :shakehead

He pulled his groin in the last play of the game, and it sure wasn't the first time in the entire game that he made that stretch move to stop the puck.

You're looking for someone to blame for the sake of looking...:shakehead Don't you think they would have noticed an issue during practise? During the game up to the very last play of the game? If anything, maybe you should be blaming Khabbi for playing without letting staff know that he wasn't ready?

It's always easier to raise a torch than to actually think things through, get the whole story, or the actual facts. Something that is seriously rampant on this board IMO.

Theres no mention of what assessment actually took place in your post above. You're now saying trainers.

The dynamic yet again on a club that has chronic instances of playing players before they are ready is that it has resulted in yet another aggravation of injury probably requiring a much longer shelving than if we had just been prudent and paced the player or gave him time to heal.

Is that assumption or paying attention?
