Whats up with this Deslauriers theme? I saw I think 3 lists of him ahead of Montoya.

I may be biased but I think Mike Richards being left off some of these lists is rather odd. Compare what he's done to some of the other prospects in the 25-50 range and he comes out further ahead then many of them. Not to mention, he also is known for having an all around game and being a good leader. But even just focusing on offensive stats, he's been better then a LOT of the people ranked ahead of him on several of these lists.

Amen to that. You aren't biased either.

I know I'm biased but I'm surprised Corey Perry can't crack the top 50 somewhere.

Does everyone feel that he's going to just suck when he gets to the NHL?

I don't think it's that he's going to "suck", I just think there really isn't anything "special" about his game. He's a big guy that can score, but his skating is a problem, he's still pretty lanky, and from what I read/seen he's not much of a physical presence for a guy that's 6'3, 197 pounds.

yikes, mike green on, but Eric Fehr not?

I like Mike Green, but Eric Fehr dropped 50 goals last year.

Eric Fehr was *rising w/a bullet* on last year's list at #36 before he double his goal scoring total w/50.

I am just curious how Phaneuf can fall from #2 to #4. My logic is this. From last year Phaneuf has imporved and putting up much betetr numbers and dominating more than the previous season.

Has Letohen improvd from last season and playing better? Has AO improved from last season and playing better? Has Malkin improved from last season and played better? Phaneuf has imporved his offensive output by quite a margin. Has the other 2 forwards improved their offense by a good amount?

If it goes according to current stats as well as past factors than a guy like Letohen should fall a couple of places. I don't see how a #2 prospect like Phaneuf who is playing betetr could fall so much???

I am pretty sure Phaneuf was #3 last year, behind Lehtonen then Zherdev. Add in Ovechkin this year and its easy to see why Phaneuf is #4.

My top 5 is Ovechkin, Lehtonen, Phaneuf, Zherdev, Fluery

Malkin and Ovechkin improving or not doesn't have anything to do with it. What you fail to take into account is that last year, Ovechkin and Malkin (as well as the whole 2004 class) weren't drafted prospects yet.

Kari Lehtonen, Evgeny Malkin and Alexander Ovechkin are easily ahead of Dion Phaneuf.

Here is my top 5 list again (it is just acouple posts above)

Ovechkin, Lehtonen, Pheneuf, Zherdev, Fluery. So Phaneuf better then Ovechkin and Lehtonen? No. Better then Malkin? Yes.

I'm going to go and make a Malkin VS Phaneuf poll at the polling forum...

I'd take Phaneuf ahead of Malkin personally. Ovechkin? No way. Lehtonen? Nope. Zherdev? Yes, but it's close.

Right now, my top 5 is:

#1 - Alexander Ovechkin (Sorry Kari, but you can't top this guy)
#2 - Kari Lehtonen
#3 - Dion Phaneuf
#4 - Marc-Andre Fleury
#5 - Nikolai Zherdev

Close but no cigar to Ryan Suter and Evgeni Malkin

Kind of glad Koivu has dropped out, I think he'll be 50-75 because he hasn't shown a lot. Potential yes, but getting there needs a ton of work!

The one dark horse that I see in the 50-75 that can squeek in is Harding. As I said earlier, he is off this year in the AHL and the club hasn't been fairing well but he managed last night to pull off a win and only let 2 goals in and I think once he settles in, he'll be a tremendous goaltender for the Wild.

Well, you're the dude that has Andrei Kostsitsyn and him on Montreal's 1st line as rookies, so...

You miscoted me badly..

First I was talking about next season..

Second, I was expecting Kostitsyn's progression to be similar to Perezhogin's one.. If ever Kostitsyn become a dominant player in the AHL this year, why not on the first line with Koivu?

Third.. Did Koivu complain to play with Ryder (our best winger last year)?

To me Perezhogin is actually ready to dominate the game at the NHL level... He was one of the top AHL player at the end of last season and has recently been selected to play for team Russia..

At the moment we have at least 2 young fowards ready to step up and improve the big team immediatly if ever the lock-out end up... Perezhogin and Plekanec... After that you have Higgins and Hossa (dominating the SEL in goal scoring) who I think are extremmely close to be effective at the NHL level...

I remember some games last year where your old Leafs legs were totally dominated by teams like Buffalo... We have some quality vets to lead our top guns unlike teams like Atlanta, Buffalo, Florida... I think it will be an explosive mix up and the biggest difference will be the speed and natural overall skills... What couldnt bring players like Dagenais, Bulis, Juneau, Perreault, Dackell...

If ever Kostitsyn mature enough in the Ahl this year and do what Perezhogin did last year, Im dreaming about the following line-up:

Kostitsyn Koivu Perezhogin

Hossa Ribs or Plekanec Ryder

Higgins Bonk Zednik

Ivanans Begin Ward

extra: Sundstrom, Bulis

Souray Komisarek

Markov Rivet

Hainsey or Bouillon Brisebois

If ever Kosty is'nt ready then replace Zednik by Sundstrom on the third line and bring him back on the first... Still a line-up that can outplay your old prima dona team!
