I hope a new one is coming soon. It’s been 7 years since GTAV, and it’s pretty dated. I assume they had to deal with the limitations of the ps3/360. I’d imagine it’d be quite an upgrade with the current hardware.

I wouldn't expect it until late-2022 at the earliest, considering a GTA V re-make for next-gen is scheduled for this year.

I was not aware of that. That’s good enough for now. It’s been so long since I played the campaign, it’d pretty much be a new game to me anyway.

How many of those were the free copies given away on EGS?

EGS reportedly pays the publisher for the free copies that get claimed and played so as far as TakeTwo is concerned, it's still a sale to them.

Probably comes with an even heavier focus on Online than the previous edition, for those that have enjoyed the single player mode I expect it to disappoint.

There's no reason for these gaming monoliths like Rockstar and Bethesda to actually put out titles regularly anymore. Sad really that they can subsist of milking their old hits but that's the case now.

2025 is a bit ridiculous if true. That's a 12 year gap between GTA V and this. I get they did Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, and they actively are supporting GTA Online and have the GTA V coming out for PS5 this year, but I think they were supposed to have had a team on this since 2017 or so. I get it takes a studio 4 or 5 years on big picture AAA stuff, but they must be re-using a ton of assets from GTA V and RDR2.

I enjoyed it but waiting 13 years between new stories and single player is beyond frustrating. I'm waiting to hear more on what this PS5 expanded version is. If it adds a new story I'll buy it, but I'm not getting it for just GTA Online. It's crazy looking back on how GTA III, San Andreas and Vice city came out within like 4 years of each other.

Also only four years from the original Grand Theft Auto to GTA III. Feels like a bigger jump than what GTA VI is likely to achieve in the 24 years since that game.

Reminds me of what Valve has become since Steam became a thing. We are missing out on some great titles because they found other easier ways of revenue.
