This went to shootouts at olympics after a 1-1 tied game, but while Germany has several NHL guys on the team now, Norway doesn't have that luxury, and their only NHL player had to decline.

4-1 Germany

Yeah, not looking good for Norway. Norway has had several key-players injured including up to the last game before the tournament. Patrick Thoresen has also declined, due to personal reasons if I'm not mistaken. His dad is the coach so I am sure this wasn't lazyness. Also, Andreas Martinsen is stuck in the AHL- playoffs, the fact we really, really miss him probably tells you guys how much the world is not nice to Norway this year. The Germans gets Draisatl, we don't get Martinsen. Yeah, that's fair.

Don't think this a given for the Germans though.

No comments about the horrible power play goal GER let in?
(NOR scored when on the penalty kill)

You overrate the "luxury" for Germany to have NHL guys. The Team misses to many good DEL guys. The difference between a guy like Krämmer and Macek or Müller is big.

Norway scores three in the first period, Germany just one. Sadly, one of those "Norwegian" goals were in the wrong net. So 2 -2. After 2-0, obviously, the fun way to beat Norway this year is to give us two goals early.

Awful start for Germany, good thing they picked up their game with 5 mins to go and tied it. Hope they won't come out flat footed again for the 2nd..

Auf geht's, Germany!

Espen Knutsen on Norwegian TV noticed it should be a question where the Germans were there. But gives credit to Ken Andre Olimb for a great goal.

Well, Norway got an early goal, then Norway got a man sent off for face-off violation. I know that's the rules, but kind of weird they did it. Also, it was listed on the TV as personal for the second man in, and he served it. Wonder if it's not a bench-minor in IIHF? And it is now 3-3 as the Germans scored on the ensuing PP.

Why was that great Norwegian possibility stopped there? He wasn't offside.

Drai sent off with 1:52 left, so no penalty shot for him if we go to SO ;-)

Draisaitl has been very disappointing. Not a good leader at all. Gets frustrated at his teammates, doesn't help out defensively, and takes a costly penalty late in OT and he won't be able to take part in the shoot out if it goes there.

Yeah, cause it was Drai, right? Now the Norwegian commentators expects him to take a penalty, so either I was wrong or they don't know the rules...

What do Norwegians drink? They always seem to do good even when they have played bad.

The game evened out, I know but they were lucky to not be behind after 2 periods. same against Latvia, and happened several times against Denmark in the past.

It is something to admire.
