We're most likely going to rest our starting goalie and other leading players before the game against Denmark.

If Canada is in a goal-scoring mode, I expect a massive blowout loss. This game just doesn't mean all that much to us.

There is a chance both teams might consider this an exhibition game. Surprisingly, during the actual exhibition game Latvians, without several leaders, played a good and tight first period. Eventually, though, Canadians managed to play around successfully and finish the game 6:1.

TSN says that Dubois will likely miss the game with a minor injury. Chabot also ran one of the PP units so it looks like he will play. Apparently Kuemper is starting. It won't be shocking if Canada takes out the blender and mixes everything up for this game.

Who even knows when it comes to this group?

Germany(in OT) & Denmark beat Finland.
Finland destroyed Canada.
USA beat Canada in a shootout.
Latvia lost against USA in OT & beat Germany.

Literally unpredictable.

Team Canada should just watch Finland vs Germany game to get convinced what kind Zombie-skating they shouldn't perform in this match.

Ok. Ok. Ok. On paper it all is very clear, but in the rink there is always a chance the only thing you can do with those papers is just arse-wiping.

If Canada's goalies are as leaky as they were in the game against Finland, then McJesus and Co. should increase an offense little bit. It's Team Latvia, but Latvia can bite too in this tournament, if guys walk innocently in a forest like Hansel and Gretel.

Team Finland got the lesson from hansels and gretels already: A knife to the throat for wrong attitude - and previously A Little Match Girl lit a gas upon the Lions' hair for making herself warm too.

Nothing granted.

Latvia has added Edgars Siksna (D) to the roster. He plays in the Russian 2nd division. If that wasn't impressive enough, he's on a team based in Kazakhstan.

So if it wasn't clear before, 3 points are pretty much guaranteed for us now. No one can beat Borat's mustache.

And you beat Germany, who beat Finland, who dominated Canada.

So, Latvia humiliating Canada is a given.

We beat Germany, because they're not very good. Germany beat Finland, because the Finns were overconfident and didn't take the game very seriously.

Latvia has never won against Canada. Not once in a hundred years.

We're missing at least 15 of our leading players, our starting goalie is probably the 5th best in the country (out of about 10 pro goalies that we have in the country), a 1/3 of our defensemen played in the juniors this season and we're consciously not even going to try to go 100% tonight, because we have a win-or-die game tomorrow.

So what you're saying is that the Latvian B team is going to beat a team that mostly consists of leading NHL players? A 15:0 blowout is more plausible.

During the previous 13 match-ups, the average goal difference has been 4.8 goals.

This year presents a stronger-than-usual Canada (at least on paper) and weaker-than-usual Latvia.

I just don't believe this Latvia roster will being able to keep up with Canada.
My Prediction 5-2 for Canada,

Kivlenieks (AHL, CBJ prospect) is our back-up goalie tonight, so that basically means that there's going to be a goalie change and Kivlenieks is going to make his debut. Can't wait to see him in action.

Also, the Kazakhstani dude is on the 2nd pairing. Holy smokes.

Canada 11-1
