A group of 300 Russian hooligans arrived armed to attack football fans in an organised assault which left 19 British people in hospital, four in a critical condition, The Independent can reveal.

Thugs wearing black T-shirts carried bum bags containing equipment for assaults, including gum shields, fighting equipment and mixed martial arts gloves when they arrived in Marseille on Saturday afternooon. They seized upon the chaos caused by gang violence which had already started in the centre of Marseille – between rival fans of Olympique Marseille and Paris Saint Germain – to launch indiscriminate attacks on English fans.

English supporters ran for their lives but the Russians outnumbered them and were quicker and stronger, unleashing extraordinary violence on them using any available weapon, sources told The Independent.

UEFA today made it clear that it suspects Russian fans were the architects of the scenes of extraordinary violence which marred England’s opening European Championship fixture against Russia on Saturday night, and said it viewed the clashes before the game with “utter disgustâ€.

When Russia hosts though the Russian government will be eager to not have anything ruin the good vibe for them so those guys will either be sent off to prison in advance or enlisted to work as security instead.

The second option isn't really unlikely as many hooligans work in the private security business.

So let's sum up this article.
The fights the previous days were between OM and PSG fans. Poor english fans witnessed the horror of those french hooligans.
And, just when they thought they were done with it, russian hooligan assaulted them for no reason.
UEFA sees Russia as full responsible.

Which is why both teams are threatenned to be thrown out of the competition. :sarcasm:

The quietest & most peaceful WC this century? Putin won't let that type of s*** ruin his good press.

Nobody will be sent to prison , stop this ridiculous BS. There will be a very harsh security order issued and these hooligans will know that the Russian police won't tolerate and observe clashes like French did

While that may be true, many of them will be "on duty" during the matches...

All in all, the game vs England was once in a lifetime opportunity for these hooligans to fight their idols, the inventors of the hooliganism.

A bunch of them flew just for one day for the riots and didn't even go to the game.

It should be very quiet from now on unless Russis gets to play England / Turkey / Ukraine / Poland
