The question here is how much weight do we put on the way Heatley departed? If a lot then vote for someone else, if it's not a significant factor then his back to back 50 goal seasons make this a no brainer. My vote is for Heater

I never really thought about how long Smith has been with this team. This will (technically) be his tenth year in which he's played... wow.

Chris Phillips leads the entire NHL in career Stanley Cup winning (losing) own goals... how could he not go next? :sarcasm:

Do any other Sens own an NHL career record?

Love ya CP.

Won't vote all star until Redden, Phillips and Neil are in. I might consider him over Fisher though.

Longest serving Sen. Longtime assistant Captain. Part of our cup finals run. This should easily be Phillips.

Exchange the first point with 2x100pt seasons which include 50goals in each, followed by a 40 and 39 goal season, and part time assistant captain, and aside from being a trashy employee, Heatley >>> Phillips who's main claim to fame is longevity and being a part of a team that included greats like Heatley and Redden.

I'd choose Redden over Heatley just because he was more dominant in terms of making this team relevant, while Heatley came to a team already on the cusp of greatness. Both were elite at their position in their prime though. Phillips was always just good to great at his role as shut down D.

I don't think a guy that would get booed to hell every time he touched the puck after bailing on us should be in the top 10 of greatest Sens. Being a trash employee has to count for something.

In that case, what's argument for Phillips over Redden? If emotions are considered, I'd say Redden was a part of more memorable moments than Phillips, wore the A from '99 to '08. Phillips only supplanted him as an alternate just before his departure in '07. His stat line of 101G 309A in 838 games dwarfs Phillips' 288 total points. So essentially, Phillips just has about 300 games on Redden, where I'd say about 100-200 of them had been after he was over the hill.

It just seems that Phillips is getting votes purely because he is freshest in people memory, but everyone was upset when Redden was let go about a decade ago, where was fans have been pining for Phillips to be benched for the better part of a season now. For the record, I voted Redden not Heatley.
