Why would you take Yannick Weber when you could have Seth Jones? I don’t think the difference between Subban and Weber is anywhere near big enough to justify that

Right now though, Ekholm is way better than he’s ever been, Ellis is on a different level the last 2 years as well.

Having said that 06/07 was ridiculous from top to bottom. Prime kimmo, hamhuis and Zidlicky with Weber and Suter entering their prime

15/16 for me, even though 2006 looks good on paper it wasn't on the same level as a D-core.

The names for 15-16 look flashier, but Weber was declining and Jones isn't what he is today. Imo their current setup is by far the best in terms of actual on ice play.

I'll go with the current group. Largely on the strength of the steps guys like Ekholm, Ellis, and Josi to an extent, have taken. If we were talking just "collection at their peak", my answer would change...but they weren't all the same players they are now, at those specific periods in time.

The 5th best defenseman for the Preds this season ought to be Hamhuis, not Weber.

Just like Mckenzie said in the Jets series this spring when he said a few gm's told him they have 1 of the best defenses until they are put under pressure in their end then they are average.
