Terry Ruskowski

Terrific playmaking center/centre who - despite being not very big (5' 10" 176 pounds) - usually came away from board meetings and scrums in front of the net with the puck. Only once missed the 100-PM mark in a full season - twice hit the 200-PM mark.

Before the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL arrived (for the 1970-71 season), the WHL had its own Vancouver Canucks, who won that league's championship (Lester Patrick Memorial Trophy) in 1969-70, as they had a year earlier.

Ed Westfall

Spent 18 seasons in the NHL - 11 of them with the Bruins. The first six seasons, Boston missed the playoffs. He was witness to the arrival/emergence of Bobby Orr, and the team's transformation immediately after the trade. Westfall was there for the two Stanley Cup championships. Shortly after hoisting the Cup in 1972, Ed was made available in the Expansion Draft, and drafted by the New York Islanders.

Here we see Bruce MacGregor - one of hockey's redheads - and Mr. Hockey. MacGregor reached the 20-goal mark three times before expansion.

Rookie Serge Savard (18) is dealing with Gord Labossiere (20), while Gilles Tremblay - backchecking admirably - is trying to get the puck away from the front of his team's net. Lorne - Gump - Worsley is hoping he (Tremblay) is able to do so. Ted Irvine (15) has plans of his own for the puck.

Norm Maciver was the best player on a really bad Ottawa Senators team in 1992-93. He - a blueliner - led the team in points with 63 (including 17 goals) during the franchise's inaugural season.

Only two single-digit jersey numbers are not retired/honored in Boston, the 1 and the 6. Fans of Frank Brimsek and Bronco Horvath remain outraged.

In 1954-55, Glenn Hall was named as the MVP of the Edmonton Flyers of the WHL. In 1955-56, he would play all 70 games for the Detroit Red Wings, earning himself the Calder Trophy.

Weren't Hull and Watson sworn enemies back when the latter was "shadowing" the former? Odd to see them posing together.

East German national team did a two-week training camp in North Korea in 1987, interestingly results of the games against the hosts were completely suppressed and do not appear in publications to this day.
