Why?

Why is spacetime warped or curved by mass? Simple question.

The Big Bang Theory makes to me. Everything is attracted. Eventually everything meets in one place, then explodes to make the universe again.

I'v seen the pool balls on a suspended tablecloth thing. I understand the effects of gravity, yet I'm at a loss as to why it exists.

This is actually a way more difficult question to answer than you realize.

General relativity states that gravity is not necessarily a real force at all but is instead a manifestation of the curvature of spacetime due to energy-momentum fluxes described in the stress-energy tensor. GR is not complete, however, and does not correctly describe phenomena at extremely small scales. The physical source of gravity (if one exists) at all scales has not yet been described to date and it's a major source of study in theoretical physics.
