I'm joining a league at my school. I want to get some gloves and a good stick. I wouldn't mind pads and a mask if they're cheap. Any good site recommendations or brand names?
Ball, I haven't played steet hockey in over 10 years. I have no idea how good I am.Hedberg16 said:Are you goalie?
How hard are the shots
What are you playing with? Puck or Ball
Brodeur said:I play in a ball hockey league......I recently bought these pads since I had been using my ice pads outdoors:
$100 pads: http://www.discounthockey.com/ccmrgsegonew.html
$80 glove: http://www.discounthockey.com/ccm1.html
$50 blocker: http://www.discounthockey.com/ccmrgsegobln.html
From experience, the pads offer really crappy knee protection, to the point where I had to attach volleyball knee pads. The glove and blocker are okay, nothing spectactular.
If you can spring extra cash, the 2005 version of those pads offer much better knee padding, and attached thigh boards: http://www.discounthockey.com/ccmpfs30sego.html
Mask wise, I would just use a player's helmet if you already have one. I used to have a mask that was like $50, and it was incredibly uncomfortable.
On a side note, I wish I had known about the ball hockey league at my college before I graduated......I literally found out about it a week before I got the diploma. But luckily I was able to play as alumni, and now the league is independent of our school.
And as a goalie, stopping a ball is sometimes a little trickier than stopping a puck. If you hit a ball right, that thing will dip and curve like a 90 mph slider from Randy Johnson.
