3 iron ftw!! Woot.

Was going to comment on your wedges - big gap between 52 and 60. Obviously the SM7s fill that.

I've been going to a local range a lot recently trying to hit a couple specific targets. The 52 is perfect for the one target.

I'm thinking all 3 SM7s will stay in the bag and the 3 wood will come out. I use my 3 iron pretty often, and I feel comfortable with it, so it's staying in the bag. I'm really excited to see what I can do with the P790 3 iron. It's basically a driving iron with the strengthened lofts on these clubs.

Cool. I had a 3 iron in my last set and didn't have any significant trouble hitting it, no more than say my 5 iron. So I kind of miss it, but I'm trying to be adaptable. Hoping I've found the right hybrid or I may end up going back to either a 3 iron or 5 wood. I had a 2 iron in that previous set also. Beautiful when I hit it well, hideous when not.

Wedges are another area I want to work on in my bag. My set came with a 46 and a 50 (p/w) and I have a 52 and 56 from prior that I really enjoy. Given the lofts of my new set I'm thinking about going to 54 and 58. I'm content using full swings on my 46/50 and 52 for that matter. But I rarely use the 56 outside of the sand and never with a full swing. I have about 74 different swings with my P but I really need to gap all my wedges accordingly and learn to hit them all full swing. That should bring the swing count down on the P to 70 or so. o_O

Note I threw a couple old wedges in the bag recently. Will go back to the SM7s.

Did you sleep with them... ?

And have a cigarette after... ?

I'm looking at new irons... mine are approaching 20 years old...

Very high spin rate... old ideas on lofts across the set... I hit a 7 iron with over 7000 rpm with them...

I'm interested in the 790's...

The Titelist T-100's...

And going to look at the King Cobra Forge Tec's...

Won't get fitted until My Golftec lessons/practice are on track & fleshed out... plus a number of rounds next spring with the old set before I take the plunge with the Club Fitting Session I have credit for with Golftec...

Christmas in May... :xtree:

So I just hit them on the range for the first time. Not exactly hitting weather. It was about 45F, but at least the wind was calm. In any case, they definitely fly lower than my R7 TPs. Also further. Much further. That would be expected with the strengthened lofts, but man, it's a big difference. About 15 yards on average per club. But the biggest difference was the forgiveness. Miss hits didn't hurt, and the distance was surprisingly consistent all the way across the face. Man do they feel good when you hit the dead center of the face too. Very happy after that range session. Carrying a 7 iron 155 to 160 yards in that weather is huge for me.

Imagine trying to read any golf instruction in a magazine. He has to swap the hands for everything when he thinks about it.
Fortunately he’s a child of the find everything on YouTube era . He watches hours of Lefty’s instructional videos, no actual reading required.

Still can’t hit the flop shot like his old man though ;).

Our winter outlook makes me think I might be able to get on the course multiple times prior to spring. It's supposed to be very warm, relatively speaking.

One local course has a simulator setup where you can pay a few bucks and play a simulated 18. Might not be a bad option when it's too cold out.

I'm one of those golf lefty, shoot lefty, bat lefty but throw righty, write righty and kick righty people. Is that the same for you, or are you fully left handed?
I’m an odd duck too. I golf left, bat left, kick left, and write left but I throw and shoot a ball right handed.

Its true that there are very few left golfers here in the US.

You guys are making me want to buy new clubs. I have Ping G30s and 1st generation RBZs.

I feel sorry for you guys not being able to golf in the winter.

So I'm thinking about getting a tripod for my phone and videoing my swing. Question is, would I look like a complete tool doing this at a driving range?

No... not a tool...

Cool...

Already done it at a private club with a comprehensive practice range...

People just come up and ask how you are doing it and want to see how it works...

Most Pro's now use Ipad's and Androids when they instruct so this is not unfamiliar to anyone with teaching Pro's around...
