the league average for goals was about 2.7 goal per game this season. So 3 or more should usually result in a win, 3 against, usually a loss. Conversely 2 goals for will usually be a loss, 2 goals against usually a win.

This season the Bruins:

Scoring 4+ goals: 16-3
Scoring 3 goals: 14-7 (1 win and 3 losses in shootouts)
Scoring 2 goals: 10-14 (2-4 in shootouts)
Scoring 1 goal or less: 1-17

the 4+ goal games its pretty easy to credit the wins to the offense and the losses to the goalie. The 2 or less goals for games are usually going to be games the goalie wins for you.

Allowing 4+ goals: 0-14
Allowing 3 goals: 6-13 (1-3 in shootouts)
Allowing 2 goals: 17-11 (2-4 in shootouts)
Allowing 1 goal or less: 18-0 (1-0 in shootouts)

*major generalizations/simplifications ahead proceed with caution*

to my eye the goalies "stole" 11 wins in games where the team scored 2 or less. the offense didn't "steal" any when the goalies let in 4 or more. Most of the 16 wins in games where they scored 4 or more can be credited to the offense but some of those are a tough call because a 4-0 or 5-2 win could have been the result of a goalie standing on his head. Gonna give the props to the O here though

goaltending cost the B's 3 games, scoring 4 or more should basically always be a win. the 14 losses where 4 or more allowed are mainly on goaltending as well, but again it's a tougher call for me because who sucked more in a 4-0 or 6-2 loss, maybe an early goal gets everybody rolling?

The offense had a big hand in 11 losses as giving up 2 or less should be a win the majority of the time.

the games where they scored/allowed 3 are pretty hard to say were won or lost by anyone without using the eyeball test
