October 12, 2019: Arguably Chris Drury's most impactful move as GM so far, the Rangers brought in young winger Jesse Puljujarvi, who has lots of potential, but hasn't lived up to the hype so far. The Rangers are hoping a change of scenery will get him going and provide them with a star winger for years to come. The Rangers had to give up a few prospects and a couple draft picks to land Puljujarvi, but none of the pieces they gave up were high-profile.
October 20, 2019: "I am livid," said Rangers GM Chris Drury, his face red, following his teams' 10-1 blowout loss against the Vancouver Canucks earlier today. He added, "This is completely unacceptable. I realize we were screwed by whoever did the awful scheduling job this season--I mean, a week off after our first two games of the season, then another four days off between games three and four, and then three games in four nights. Ridiculous. And I realize teams sometimes just have off-nights. But 10-1 is unacceptable. It's something that can't happen. I've already spoken with our coaching staff, and there will be changes. And if those don't work and this happens again, there will be more changes."
October 22, 2019: Just two days after their 10-1 shellacking at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks, the Rangers had a trouncing of their own, 10-2, over the Arizona Coyotes. It remains to be seen if these 2 games were just outliers, a sign of inconsistency, some sort of pattern, or just a massive difference in the skill level of the two teams.

NHL Commissioner takes the stage as he reveals
the future of the National Hockey League
With the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus, aka COVID-19, the losses suffered financially from the NHL has spiraled out of control. It's gotten to the point that the entire league has had to shutdown it's play, and some teams have not survived.
"We obviously have tried to be as optimistic as possible during these troubling times, but I have to regretfully announce that the NHL as it stands is no more." Mr. Bettman announced in his press release earlier this afternoon.
The commissioner announced that all 31 teams have been completely dismantled, and 31 brand new teams will take their places. Some cities will retain the rights to have a team, while others will lose them. Some new cities have also been granted the privilege of hosting an Pro Hockey team for the first time.
"With this announcement all players will retain their contracts as they stand and be put into a pool where we will conduct the first ever full on fantasy draft for the NHL. This is both exciting and saddening at the same time. Some friends will be separated and families will be forced to move with this announcement."

At the start of the season, many of the pundits in Hockey figured the Tiger Cats would be locks to make the 2019-2020 NHL playoffs. Many players on the team felt the same way. Fate had other things planned.
In what was surely a disappointing season, the Tiger Cats held a 3rd worst in the League record of
34-38-10
"We had a very rocky start to the season after the whirlwind that was the summer, with the fantasy draft and being moved around, getting new teammates. And we never recovered really after that. We just didn't play good enough." - Ti-Cats captain Auston Matthews had to say
"Clearly we're all very disappointed with how the season went. I figured there would be growing pains with players having to move around and get new teammates. But we never found our groove. It was disheartening, but we do have a relatively younger team so we definitely have room to grow and improve." - said GM GAMO1992 about the lacklustre season.

[/TBODY]Both Matthews and Huberdeau, thought to be the dynamic duo on offense, fell short in their point totals. Matthews just barely crossing the 60 point threshold, having his worst point totals since coming into the NHL.

I've been stuck on a major offseason one decision on my Rangers franchise for a couple of days now.
I know I could trade Tony D for 83 rated Nolan Patrick coming off of a 39 point season, or I could keep Tony and sign an 83 rated Mikael Granlund coming off of a 49 point season with similar TOI.
Signing Granlund and keeping Tony seems like the sensible option but the low elite potential of Patrick is tempting. How do low elites usually pan out over the long run in peoples experience ?

Earlier this evening, the Milwaukee Lakers and General Manager Robyn Regehr took to the stage at MECCA Arena in Milwaukee, WI to complete the expansion draft that gives the newly-minted Lakers a fresh start heading into the 2019-2020 season.

Hi, i am usually on “art of custom players” with legends caps. I decided to switch over to current times. Ive been creating missing prospects and editing current ones in the game. Is there a link with top prospects attributes and potential updated? Thx
Has Caufield turned into an insane goal scorer for any of you. He potted 50 in his rookie season in my be a gm, and now halfway through his 2nd year he has 43, his Habs are terrible though

With nothing great to look at, let's just take a look at the Ottawa Senators. Franchise player C. Domingue is at 94 overall on the top line with L. Brown (86) and newly signed P. Kane (91). A really good top line. 2021 1st overall pick A. Räty is finally coming into his own at 87 overall on the...third line. As a LW he is competing with Domingue, but A. Formenton is eating up 2nd line ice time. C. White (86) is bafflingly on the 4th line beneath D. Batherson (83, 2nd line) and B. Little (84, 3rd line). And lastly, B. Tkachuk has completely been walled and stopped growing, stuck at 84 overall and on the 4th line.
Ottawa is a team that truly baffles me with how they're built. Poor Tkachuk.

A bit of a slower trade deadline. There were a moderate amount of small trades, but nothing noteworthy.
I didn't necessarily want to trade some of my prospect-like players, but I need to make room for contracts, with several ELCs needing to be signed next year. So I picked out a few players who haven't been progressing as well as I liked and hope they don't burn me in the future.
Was also part of why I acquired Slavin. Broberg isn't progressing well and Slavin already has an extension signed so I don't have to worry about him not re-signing with me. Not that that should be a problem anymore, as by the trade deadline, the BC Monarchs' team status is officially Champion.

The top team in the league this season were the Tampa Bay Lightning with 111 points. 2nd and 3rd were SJS and COL, both with 107 points.
Last place were the Vegas Golden Knights with a respectable 73 points. 2nd last is a surprising Toronto Maple Leaf who also got 73 points. Rounding out the bottom 3 is Chicago with 74 points.
This season BCM acquired an impressive 89 points, a 12 point improvement from the year prior, and for the first time in franchise history, they squeak into the playoffs! They place 14th in the league, but were the last team in the west to clinch.

This year leading the league in goals is the ever improving...A. Hale, racking up 59 goals. Next best was A. Ovechkin with 54, then N. MacKinnon with 53.
Leading the league in points with a moderate 118 points is N. MacKinnon. Following that is a surprising 37 year old P. Kessel who picked up 112 points. Following him is C. McDavid with 107 points, who is finally getting his feet under him after a couple of low 90 point years.
BCM Stats
Well leading the league is a bit of a spoiler, but with 59 goals, he breaks his previous career and franchise high of 51 goals.
A. Holtz once again is 2nd with a lesser 31 goals, and A. Stranges is once again 3rd with a slightly better 29 goals.
With 88 points, A. Hale had 2 points better than the previous season and sets himself a new career high. This was however good for 2nd best on the team.
With a whopping 94 points (71 assists), Y. Nikitin leads the team in points, breaking Hale's previous franchise high.
Coming 3rd was A. Holtz with a more respectable and rounded 78 points.
Fun fact, at the start of the season, Hale and Holtz were deadlocked competing for most points and goals at around the 15-20 goal mark. Then Hale absolutely exploded without me realizing it when Nikitin took the lead with points. Dude is a goal scoring monster.

For the 3rd straight year, a BC Monarch wins the Calder, as P. Witt brings it home as the rookie center had 27 goals and 33 assists.

The impossible challenge.. Fixing Seattle
In a bizarre twist of events, the NHL had decided to allow Seattle into the league in time for the 2019-2020 season, the league has been informed the the Bruckheimer group is unable to own the at the time and they have allowed a man named Kaizer Soze to purchase the team. Little is known about the mysterious billionaire who has built a fortune in the liquor industry over the past 20 years. He agreed to pay a premium to get the team to enter the league earlier.
It remains to be seen how his ownership will go but it's off to a... interesting start. Mike Milbury has been hired as GM and he is off to a disastrous start according to everyone but well... himself. The results of the expansion draft are in and they are atrocious, Milbury is clearly stuck 10 years in the past.

In what has been a disastrous season full of rumours of misconduct by players, coaches and even ownership, the team that couldn't sink any lower just did in the most unimaginable way possible.
On monday with the team sitting in at 13-44-7, it was announced that the Eagles owner Kaizer Soze has been arrested on a series of cocaine related charges. In a joint FBI-Interpol investigation, it has been determined that Soze is actually a drug kinpin who has been using the Eagles as a money laundering front.
There have been rumours for months that the team and its players have had easy access to cocaine and some around the team have stated that players have been given bricks of cocaine as a bonus for winning games and scoring goals. It's rumoured that even the coaching staff has snorted lines with the players. The allegations allege that the Eagles and Tacoma Knights who sport at 11-45-8 record are knee deep in drug habits and receive visits from the Soze, his associates and hookers before games.

Just before the draft finally some positive news have come the Eagles way, today the NHL announced that it will sell the Eagles to billionaire Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, for 350 million. This promises to bring stability to the Eagles after it had been revealed that previous owner Kaizer Soze was not only using the team to launder drug money but bribing refs, forcing GM Mike Milbury to draft high salaried players in order to launder more money and doing the same in Tacoma while hiring shady staff members at exorbitant salaries. Soze was arrested and is awaiting trial while the now disgraced Milbury is also on trial for being a bad GM.. just kidding he sold cocaine to fans outside the rink after morning skates.
The widely exposed corruption ring ran deal with all members of both teams hockey ops being involved, many lifetime bans were given out like Santa giving gifts at Christmas. Seattle and Tacoma now have a barebones staff that is slowly being filled out. Commissioner Bettman said he was thrilled that a deal could be reached and is excited to not only get his own home Alexa but also have them become a part of league functions.

At the quarter mark of the 2020-21 NHL season, anything you thought last year no longer makes any sense. Basement dwellers are at the top of league standings, and Cup contenders from last season are now fighting for lottery pick positions. The only top team in contention to land A. Raty are the Buffalo Sabres, who currently own the Florida Panthers 2020 1st round pick, and they sit 30th in the league, 2 points ahead of basement dwellers the Vegas Golden Knights.
At the top of the league standings sit the surprising Anaheim Ducks, who have 35 points through 24 games. Behind them are the Buffalo Sabres (33 in 20), the Boston Bruins (33 in 22) and the Philadelphia Flyers (33 in 22). Led by their rookie class, the Detroit Red Wings sit in 7th overall, one year after finishing in 30th place (26 points in 22). The Ottawa Senators, who finished 28th last year, are in 10th place overall with 25 points in 22 games.

Martin Ward's introductory press conference as a short one, he vowed to clean up the team's image and right the ship. He has not yet said how he will do so, but he is expected to be busy at today's draft. As you all know the lottery was a not kind to the Eagles who slide 2 spots to 3rd overall, but that did not seem to bother our new GM who said this setback may be a blessing down the road. We will provide you with live coverage, a breakdown of Seattle's picks and an interview with Martin Ward after the draft.

Bettman steps up to the mic... We have a trade to announce, Seattle trades 3rd overall to Nashville for 11, 34 (New Jersey), 139, Nashville's 2nd round pick in 2012 and the negotiating rights to Mikael Granlund.
Wow, not sure what to say, it was unexpected, but this a fair deal as it stands even if Granlund walks via UFA, if the Eagles can keep Granlund this is a great move for them.
Nashville takes Stutzle, then the Devils take Matt Boyce while the Wings round out the top 5 with Alexander Holtz...
I'm hearing that the Eagles had targeted several player with their pick, but Ward feels that given the barren nature of their prospect pool, the depth of the draft and the small gap between players in the 3-10 range, moving down makes more sense. I'm hearing that the Eagles could be looking to get a player who's stock has dropped..

There you have it, I really like this pick, he's seen as the best goalie in the draft since Carey Price. His stock fell this year as he went to Zug and struggled at times, the WJC wasn't easy for him, but many scouts feel he could be a franchise goaltender and what better way to build your franchise then around one.

Interesting trade, clearly Ward sees someone he likes, while it may seem like an overpayment by Winnipeg and it probably is, they have a lot of UFA's, Hunt and Benning are capable 3rd pairing defenceman, Benning is a RFA who needs a new contract. Hunt is signed for 2 more years at 7ook, he was one of the lone bright spots in Seattle. Cheap depth is huge as we saw with Tampa paying a premium for it, I don't know if Kulikov and Hainsey will be signed but there's many UFA's on D in Seattle. I don't like the price WPG paid but, for a cap challenged team it's important to have cheap depth.
With the 20th pick the Eagles select Derek Giroux, from Davos in the Swiss league.

From the back out, and bottom up. If you look at what we've done today, you'll see that we aren't afraid to gamble on guys who didn't have the best of seasons, if you look at Askarov and Lapierre. Henrix had injuries but this happens. We're going to be fast and aggressive, we'll have some grit.
Martin, talk to us about moving down and what are the odds Mikael Granlund signs ?
We had players we really liked but truthfully Yaroslav had stood out, we knew he was going to be available outside the top 10 and we figured the extra assets couldn't hurt us. As for Granlund, we're happy to announce at this moment that he has accepted a 4 year 3.9M deal.
Wow, that was fast. Tells about your plans for the team next year, it was a mess this year and on a lot of nights it seemed like some players didn't belong in the league let alone on the team.
Yes, it started when we made the trade, we found out their number, presented our offer and it progressed quickly from there. As you know with the retirement of Marian Gaborik we do have some cap space that has been freed up, we also have some UFA's. This is going to be a long process, we're looking at what we can do in terms of trades and buy outs. Our AHL was a total disaster also and we want to work on that, we're looking at bringing over our recently drafted players, you could see as many as 3-4 come over. At this point we'll prioritize improving our AHL team due to it being a breeding ground for our prospects and we have more room to move. I know it's not news our NHL fans will like but, they need to understand that up top is a mess and that's going to take patience and time. We have work to do and we will improve no doubt, it's just not going to be a quick process.
Last question, before you go. Derek Giroux could be the steal of the draft, he's said to have Lafreniere like talent, but he's plagued by off ice issues. There's a lot of them it seems and his stock really fell, why do you trade for a 2nd first round pick for him ?
It's a fair question, I watched the NLA a lot this yea. Any drafted eligible who scores 10 goals in a top league against men is worth a look. As for the issues, who you are at 17 is not who you will be in the future. Not every 18 year old is a mature adult so we're not worried. He's agreed to come over to NA and play in Tacoma, we working with hockey Canada to mend fences so he can attend the WJC camp and we'll go from there.

After a hot start the Eagles have gone on a losing streak that has seen them drop out of the playoff race. They sit at 26-26-11 and are expected to be sellers at the deadline.
Martin Ward sat down with us briefly to discuss the season and what lies ahead.
Martin, tells us what has been the biggest challenge so far this year ?
M.W: Well, if you go back to free agency we have a lot of players that we targeted that rejected us based on the culture we had last year and how bad we were. Reporter: What are your thought's on the season so far ?
M.W: I'm happy with it, we're doing better than we expected. Our goaltending has been great and our guys show up and compete nightly. Obviously we need to start adding pieces that will be here for awhile, our prospect pool looks nice and we're happy about that.
Reporter: Speaking of prospects, Derek Giroux has destroyed the AHL this year with 62 goals in 63 games, why has he not been called up ?
M.W: That's a fair question, the same can be asked of Yaroslav Askarov who's been phenomenal down in Tacoma. We feel that Derek needs to get stronger and work on his team play, it's clear that he's got the tools to score goals but he gets pushed around in the AHL and he also does too much. As for Yaroslav his rebound control needs to get better, he creates work for himself.
Reporter: How do you feel about the team's other prospects ?
MW: I have nothing bad to say, they've all taken steps forward this year which is what you want and hope for. Bartos and Standard have had great seasons and we're looking to bring them over to NA next year and have them in Tacoma, we aren't in a rush though.
Reporter: Before I let you go, what can fans expect going forward?
MW: We will continue building a core, we have some nice pieces. Expect us to target younger players who can stay and grow with us. We'll look to add some more picks but player for player trades will happen.

After a hot start the Eagles have gone on a losing streak that has seen them drop out of the playoff race. They sit at 26-26-11 and are expected to be sellers at the deadline.
Martin Ward sat down with us briefly to discuss the season and what lies ahead.

We're live from Seattle where the host Eagles are expected to be very busy with 12 picks including 9 in the first 3 rounds of the draft. It's a big day for Martin Ward as he attempts to shake up the team again, he stole the show last year and will try to do it again this year.
Attu Raty will go first overall to the Blues, after that the rest of the draft is anyone's guess.

Wow a bit of a surprise but Ward spoke of building from the back, this is someone their high on and really like. He's a big smooth skating defenceman who while a couple of years away should stabilize their blue line.
Seattle also holds the 30th pick, remains to be seen what will be done there.
The Commissioner has stepped up to the podium, the fans are booing and he says, it involves you guys. We have a trade to announce, Seattle trades picks 30 and 62 to the New York Islanders for Joshua Ho-Sang. The building has erupted here, it's a move fans love. From an Eagles perspective this makes sense, they have enough picks and need young established forwards. Ho-Sang is coming off a 58 point season and will slot onto the fist line as it stands.
We also wanted to let our viewers know that Seattle attempted to trade for Gabriel Landeskog's negotiating rights but were turned down. Landeskog is coming of a Stanley cup win with the Avalanche.
We're joined now by Martin Ward the Eagles GM, Martin tell us about your day so far ?
Well we're happy with the player we got at 6. We think that Brandt is the best D in the draft and that he'll turn into a fine player. He's a couple of years away but that's fine.
Great to hear, Martin, how does he complement this group you're building that's led by Askarov and Giroux and where does Ho-Sang fit in ?
Well, Giroux had a record setting season in the AHL as you all know, I think he scored 110 goals total across the season and playoffs and we won the calder cup and we're thrilled about that. Brandt gives us a puck moving defenceman who's strong at both ends and great teams are built around that. We have an exciting group of young players coming up. As for Josh we think we can not only meet his contract demands but also help his growth. He's coming off a career year and we're looking to add established players to our forward group.
Speaking of Giroux, why didn't he get a chance in Seattle all year ?
We don't love his defence, that being said I think that we should have called him up and given him some games. Truthfully they were on a run at the end and in a fight and they needed him, he played in meaningful games and it won't hurt him.
What is the expectation for him ? What about Askarov, Craig Button has referred to both as Franchise players. How do you feel about this ?
We think he'll play with next year in the top 9, he'll have to fight and earn his minutes. We have free agency coming up and we'll see what we can do on the left side. Obviously we're carrying a lot of bad contracts right now we're limited in what we can do but we're looking to build and make the team better. I think Craig knows a lot about hockey but I wouldn't rush to pressure these 2 young men, they're very good hockey players that we're really excited about.
