This game will take place during the 2011 off-season. Boston has just won the Stanley Cup and the teams are preparing for the draft and free agency. This game will consist of the entry draft, free agency, regular season, trade deadline and the playoffs. Depending on how well this game goes we may continue into another season or start a new game.

Sign up will not necessarily be on a first come first server basis, trusted general managers from previous games will get priority over others. If you would like to join do not post in this thread or you won't get the team you choose. PM me with the team that you want.

If you would like one of the positions listed above PM Backlund.[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Re-signings"]Keep in mind when re-signing your players that this is a very weak free agent class so very few players are going to resign due to them being able to make more money on the open market. Only few players are likely to re-sign with their teams (Selanne, Lidstrom, etc.) Do not harass the agents because a player won't sign with you, we are just trying to make the game fun for all participants.[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Trades"]All trades must be sent in to all 3 commissioners. A trade involving a NTC/NMC must be waived by 2 of the 3 commissioners. Keep in mind that we aren't going to waive everything. It is very rare for a NTC/NMC to be waived in real life and we are trying to keep this game as realistic as possible.[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Entry Draft"]
The Draft will be ran by Backlund. If you will not be here the day of the draft you need to send in a list or you will be autoed. The draft clock will be 5 minutes and the draft will be 2 rounds.
[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Salary Cap"]The salary cap will be $64,300,000 for the season. No team at any point will be allowed over the cap, if a trade puts a team over the cap it will be vetoed. Use capgeek to find out a players' cap hit.
[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Waivers"]
If you want to place a player on waivers please post it in this thread. To keep complications to a minimum waivers will be on a first come first serve priority. If you claim a player on reentry waivers you will only have to pay half their contract and their former team will pay the other half. A player has 24 hours until they clear waivers, once they clear they can be placed on reentry.
[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Signings"]To sign a player PM that players agent with a offer. Try to sign players in groups to save inbox space for the agent. Any player not re-signed before 12:00 AM EST the day of free agency will become a free agent and your team will not hold exclusive rights.[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Restricted Free Agents"]
Each team will have 3 offer sheets that they may use on unsigned RFAs'. The team that owns the RFA has until the end of free agency to match the offer sheet or the RFA may sign with whichever team has given him an offer sheet.
[/FIELDSET]

[FIELDSET="Other Rules"]
  • Inactivity will not be tolerated, if you sign up and are inactive you will be replaced.
  • The agents will keep track of all signings but you also should keep track of your own.
  • Sending me a PM does not necessarily mean you will get the team you want.
  • A player on the IR will not count against your cap.
  • If you have any other questions feel free to PM me or any of the other commissioners.

Is willing to move down in the upcoming draft. Only reasonale, non-laughable offers will get replies.

Also, we hope to be competitive after this draft. No tanking, we are looking for veteran presence to work with out young core

Red Wings Announce Offseason Plans
large_SCFGm6LidstromBettman.JPG

Captain Nicklas Lidstrom re-signed with the Wings prior to the offseason.

The Detroit Red Wings offseason has already been busy. Coming off of their 20th consecutive playoff appearance, the Wings started the offseason with some uncertainty after the retirement of defenseman Brian Rafalski. Good news came soon after, as the team announced the re-signing of captain Nicklas Lidstrom. Now, with the cap increase and the $6 million freed up from the retirement of Rafalski, the Wings almost certainly have a busy and active offseason ahead. "Our plan going into this season is to build on to what we already have", said the Wings GM, "We have a great core here, but there's a few tweaks that need to be made to make us a top team once again. I'm confident that we can build a Cup-winning team in the offseason." It's reported that Jimmy Howard may not be the starter next season, and that the Wings GM might be looking for an elite goaltender. However, he refused to make a comment on this matter.

St. Louis is looking to move into the first round. Any reasonable offers with a combination of picks or possibly players would be welcomed. (Preferably picks)

Before we get started, I want to remind everyone that 'commissioner abuse' involving trades/NTC's will not be tolerated. In the last game I commissioned, I was bashed quite a bit for not waiving NTC's and accepting trades. I'm not going to accept it this time. If one of the commissioners says no to a deal, then that's final. Please don't try to convince or argue with them. The game is a lot more fun when people just follow the rules.

Thanks!

Red Wings Acquire Backstrom From Wild
nhl_a_Backstrom_300.jpg

Backstrom is a former Jennings Trophy winner.

The Detroit Red Wings Hockey Club have announced the first trade of the offseason. The Wings have sent goaltender Jimmy Howard and winger Dick Axelsson to Minnesota in exchange for former Jennings winner Nik Backstrom. "We're thrilled to welcome a goalie of Backstrom's caliber" said the GM of the Red Wings, "He's a phenomenal presence in net and will be a welcome addition to our team. We're sad to see Jimmy go and we wish him all the best in Minnesota".
