The Los Angeles Kings have acquired Thomas Vanek and Steve Montador. In return the Kings have sent Alexei Ponikarovsky, Corey Elkins, Alec Martinez, and Brayden Schenn to Buffalo. The Kings bring in a top scoring forward and a very solid vet defenseman as a rental. The Kings send out an underachieving Ponikarovsky, 2 good young players in A-mart and Elkins, as well as our top prospect in Schenn. It was tough to part with Schenn, but necessary in this case.

The :leafs and :rangers have completed a blockbuster deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Chris Kreider, Evgeny Grachev, Michael Del Zotto, and Rangers 2nd in 2011. In return, the New York Rangers receive Phil Kessel. It's tough to say goodbye to Phil, but were happy to welcome 2 great prospects as well as a great young defenseman.

the :rangers confirm this deal and though it was tough to see 3 great young players go. We believe this is the year we can win the Stanley Cup and adding Phil Kessel and only moving 1 roster player right now we can do it. Kessel will take some heat off of Gaborik having him not be the only proven goal scorer on the team. We re-unite Kessel with 2 USA teammates in Chris Drury and Ryan Callahan. We expect Kessel to do great here and already add onto his All Star season. Welcome To NY Phil Kessel

damn, sounds like fun lol

Buffalo is supposed to get a mix of a lot of stuff. North of the city is supposed to be like 16 inches of snow with the winds, the City and a bit south are supposed to get about a foot of snow with freezing rain, wind and some sleet, while south of Buffalo is like 9 inches of snow and much more ice

Good luck. stay safe

I can confirm that :(. Should be fun shoveling snow all day tomorrow.

Buffalo confirms the trade

This was a tough decision to make as both Thomas and Steve are great hockey players and we appreciate everything they did for the Sabres organization

In the end, with new ownership committing more money to the team, we felt we needed to move some assets around. We are thrilled to get Brayden Scheen and Poni and add them to our forward core. we feel Schenn has shown hes going to be a solid force in this league and Alexei is a very capable player who can score goals. Martinez is a blossoming young defenseman who is just beginning to find his game and we think Cody will find his game in Portland and contribute in the NHL shortly

Now that I'm less bummed.

Available
David Legwand (NTC)
JP Dumont (NMC)
Martin Erat (maybe - NMC)
Sergei Kostitsyn
Marek Svatos
Francis Bouillon
Austin Watson
Roman Josi
NSH 1st rounder
NJ 2nd rounder
NSH 2nd rounder

We need a #1 C, top line LW, and top 4 defenseman. Would prefer players signed for next season.

I already told you Spacek was available :sarcasm: trade for him already!

PS- Is Brian Burke running NYR? That's almost as bad of an overpayment as the RL Kessel trade

Not sure what's worse: What the Rangers gave up for Kessel, or that the Leafs essentially traded Kessel, Seguin, Jared Knight and TORs 2011 1st for Chris Kreider, Evgeny Grachev, Michael Del Zotto, NYR 2011 2nd.

Buffalo is now looking to shed some UFA contracts

Neidermayer, Rivet and Lalime can all be had for mid rnd picks.

grier and connolly will cost a bit more.

Drew Stafford and one of Andrej Sekera/Chris Butler could be moved as well
