Our organization has sent out one offer in order to possibly better our goaltending position and at the moment it is the only move that we are genuinely considering.

James van Riemsdyk has been asked about by several teams but we do not currently see a situation where he would move.

Jeff Carter has been asked about but much like van Riemsdyk we see no need to move him.

Our organization has been approached by a division rival about dealing for their star player but we do not currently wish to pursue such a trade.

:sabres MILLER AND POMINVILLE TO COLORADO, VANEK TO THE ISLANDERS

The Buffalo Sabres have traded goaltender Ryan Miller and forward Jason Pominville to the Colorado Avalanche for forwards Chris Stewart and Peter Mueller, defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, goaltender Craig Anderson and Colorado 2011 first round pick.

It was a very difficult decision to move two great team players in Ryan Miller and Jason Pominville. However, it was obvious that our team was going nowhere and we felt it was time to make a major shakeup. We would like to wish Ryan and Thomas the best of luck with the Avalanche. With this trade, we get a lot of assets to work with for now and the future. Chris Stewart was obviously the main piece coming our side. We like everything about his game and we are confident that he will be a dominant force in the NHL. Kevin Shattenkirk is a young defenseman with a lot of upsides. Craig Anderson will split games with Jhonas Enroth until the end of the season. We want Jhonas to take experience and Craig will be a solid mentor. We would also like to welcome Peter Mueller to the organization and we expect good things from him once he will have recovered from his injury. Adding another 2011 first round pick was also very important for us.

In another trade, the Buffalo Sabres have traded Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders for their 2011 first round pick.

Even if there was a risk with such a move, the motivation of this trade was to get another high pick in the 2011 entry draft. We would like to wish Thomas the best of luck in Long Island.

TSN Adds Veteran GM/Analyst

TSN has announced earlier today that it has added veteran NHL GM T_Cage to its hockey panel for Tradecentre '11. The hockey expert will be covering all the deadline goings on with expert and/or witty commentary.

When asked how he'll fare in this new role, T_Cage quipped "I can't be any worse than Eklund....right?"

Stay tuned to TSN and TSN2 for Tradecentre coverage

What's with the little activity today?

:isles confirm.

While much of our fanbase likes having a cool new toy every summer, we don't see a player in the upcoming draft that will become much better than Thomas Vanek. We needed a legitimate winger for Tavares now, not someone who could be decent 3-5 years from now. It was a tough move to make, but the Islanders currently sit in 3rd to last, and with the returns of Streit and Okposo and the addition of Vanek, we could see ourselves shoot right out of that "top prospect" range.

:avs Confirm this deal. it was tough to give up a player like Stewart and our 1st round pick but we are getting a proven winner in Ryan Miller who is a top 3 goalie in the league and a proven 60 point guy in Pominville.

To :panthers:
Brayden Schenn
Alec Martinez
2011 1st round pick

To :kings:
Stephen Weiss
Bryan McCabe

Although we tried our best to keep Schenn, we are sad to see him go.
This move helps the Kings in many ways. Now we have a very good 2nd line center in Weiss, who is signed for the next couple of seasons, and a veteran leader on the back end, who we hope to re-sign and help mentor Doughty and Johnson.

On the Block:
Alexei Ponikarovsky
Jonathan Quick
Brad Richardson
Trevor Lewis
Prospects
Draft picks (excluding 1st and 2nd)

Looking for
Top 6 winger
Veteran bottom 6 forward
