Sens sign Boychuk; complete roster

:sens

The Ottawa Senators have stolen a piece from a division rival, signing defenseman Johnny Boychuk to a 4 year, 14M deal that includes a limited no-trade clause.

Johnny will help to stabilize the second pairing, alongside Scott Hannan. He will also receive special teams time. Final roster to come shortly in main thread.

David Moss 2 year deal worth a total of 1.3mil$ (650k per)

Sami Lepisto 1 year deal worth 550k$

John Scott 1 year deal worth 525k$

''Very happy to get David Moss who seem to have gone under the radar this off season. A very versatile foward that will add quality depht to our 4th line and help out on the PK unit.

Sami is a solid young player that is still getting better. With Sauer on the 3rd pair, he hope he gives us good hockey.

Scott is a big guy that will help us for toughness. He can play defence and help out up front when needed.''

Lightning sign Langenbrunner, Brulé

The Tampa Bay Lightning added some leadership today, signing veteran winger Jamie Langenbrunner to a 1 year, 1.75M$ contract. The team also added former 1st round pick Gilbert Brule to a 1 year, $575K contract.

"Jamie brings experience and leadership to our team, as well as solid two way hockey. We're thrilled to add him to our club in a top 9 role where he can offer an all around solid game both in and out of the dressing room. Gilbert will bring depth to our forward lines, and we hope can find his way to becoming a regular NHL player."

:edmonton SIGN 3, PREPARED TO OPEN SEASON

The Edmonton Oilers have signed the following free agents:

Olli Jokinen: 1-year, $4,000,000 cap hit
Jordin Tootoo: 2-years, $1,200,000 cap hit
Brian Elliot: 1-year, $1,500,000 cap hit

Not quite the large physical center I was looking for, Jokinen is a large talented center that will be a stop gap for the season. Prices for other options were becoming to pricy and much too long a term. The Jokinen signing keeps with the mantra to save the long-term big money for the elite pieces.

Tootoo is coming off a career high 11 goal, 36 points season (projected totals). This diminutive agitator adds a physical dimension that will be very welcome on the 4th line. Pound-for-pound as tough as anyone out on the ice, we're hoping his physical style is infectious throughout the rest of the lineup.

Elliot is coming off an incredible breakout season where he led NHL goaltenders in GAA and SV%. This 1-year pact will allow Elliot to show his doubters that his amazing season was not a fluke.

He's doing very well here. 3 goals in first 7 games. Fits a Tippett-style offense very well.

Lightning round out roster; sign Fedotenko, Paille

The Tampa Bay Lightning rounded out their roster today, adding winger and former Stanley Cup hero Ruslan Fedotenko to a 1 year, 1.25M$ contract, while also adding grit and depth with the addition of Daniel Paille to a 1 year, 575K$ contract.

"Ruslan Fedotenko has the distinction of being the man to score the winning goal to secure the Lightning's first Stanley Cup champion, and we're thrilled to have him on board." Bolts GM TribalPhoenix stated in a release today.

"He will see himself in a 2nd or 3rd line spot along the right wing, and will get the opportunity to hit the 20 goal mark again in his career. Daniel Paille is a gritty, character forward who we feel will make us tough to play against, and will see time in the bottom six. We're very happy to have rounded out our much improved roster for a hope at a Stanley Cup in 2012-2013."

Flames Sign Marquee Free Agent to Massive Contract

After realizing everyone had missed out on one of the leagues premier players, GM Capital Punishment of the Calgary Flames has signed defenseman Jeff Finger to a 10 year, $120 million contract.

"You idiots," said GMCP, "this guy has so much truculence and potential!"

Said Finger's agent, "We had better offers on Jeff, but it was clear he wanted to be a Flame from the start."

Jeff Finger, who was secretly playing with the Marlies, was stated to have played like **** and asked Brian Burke to send him down so nobody would know of his awesomeness, and he could sign on a team he loved.

:edmonton Sign two-time Stanley Cup veteran Chris Kelly

chris-kelly.jpg

Oilers announced today that they have signed Chris Kelly to a 2-year $1.500M/year contract.

Chris Kelly is a two-time Stanley Cup winner and brings a veteran presence to the locker room. He'll center the 3rd line with Abdelkader and Jones flanking him.

This signing has ignited the rumor mill that Shawn Horcoff is on the way out in Edmonton. Previous reports indicated that the Official Oilers Store was selling discounted Horcoff jerseys and freshly crested "C" Ryan Smyth jerseys.

More to come...?
