Pens Land Scoring Winger

:pens have acquired Rene Bourque from Calgary in exchange for Matt Niskanen, prospect Beau Bennett, and our 2012 1st rounder. We are thrilled to land a player of Rene's caliber, and our forward group is now set for a strong playoff run:

Kunitz-Crosby-Bourque
Sullivan-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Staal-Kennedy
Dupuis-Vitale-Adams
Jeffrey-Letestu-Asham

Orpik-Letang
Martin-Michalek
Lovejoy-Engelland

Fleury
Johnson

When taking to account the players we have in the minors who are considered NHL-ready (Tangradi, Bortuzzo, Strait, Richard Park, Jason Williams, Steve MacIntyre, Simon Despres), we feel that we have the deepest and most talented team in the East, if not the NHL. It will be hard to stop a team led by a healthy, angry Crosby.

Also, we would like to swap Letestu for a D-man of similar value.

Sharks acquire Jets captain Andrew Ladd from Winnipeg.

2012 1st
2013 2nd (Conditional on T. Mitchell re-signing)
Taylor Doherty
Benn Ferrerio
Torrey Mitchell
Niittymaki

Ladd
7th 2012

Sharks GM Matt trick: We are thrilled to be bringing in a two time Stanley Cup Champion in Andrew Ladd. In addition to being a 30 goal threat, he is excellent defensively and can be counted on for clutch goals. Ladd helps us fix our bottom six now, while also providing a perfect fit our up and coming core of Burns, Vlasic, Demers, Braun, Nieto, Sgarbossa, Pavelski, and Couture long term. Given our weakness of winger depth beyond 30 year-old Marleau, Clowe and Havlat, he is a tremendous fit for our future. On the downside we gave up two quality players in Niittymaki and Mitchell, and two key future assets in Doherty and our 1st in 2012. We have agreed to honor Ladd's LNTC which goes into effect next year.

San Jose will continue to pursue a 9 right wing. We believe we can spend up to 4.5 million on that player (although we need to confirm our cap numbers), and are willing to trade Petrecki, our 2013 1st, and 2012 2nds to get that done.

Winnipeg confirms

Trading our captain was a controversial decision, but the assets will help the Jets long-term. Doherty. Gives us a 'chara-lite' with 1st pair potential, and a 1st in a deep draft. Plus 2 young NHLers I. Mitchell (who is turning into a great 3rd liner) and ferriero (who would have been in the bigs now but for SJs depth.

Expect anorther move or 2 tonight as we continue to tinker. Nitty is now added to my block

:bruins - :flames deal is vetoed, as it broke the following rules:
  • A trade involving a NTC or NMC must be sent in by BOTH GMs with a reasoning for the player to waive. The trade must be approved by BOTH trade managers prior to posting. Keep in mind it will only be on a rare occasion that a NTC or NMC is waived.
  • If a trade involving a NTC or NMC is announced before approval, it will be vetoed.

5th round pick in 2012

Stalberg didn't fit in Hawks plans. Yogan and Bourque are decent prospects going forward and the 5th rounder may land a NHL caliber player
