Only solution to this problem is dropping a player and retaining 50% of their cap hit towards your total cap.

ie) Drop a $9m player, keep $4.5m of their cap. This leave you at $5m in cap space with 5 spots to fill.

Or drop multiple cheaper players.

I know, but I don't want to buy out Guentzel or Pavelski. Bettman won't turn a blind eye?:sarcasm:

Pavelski wouldn't be enough anyways.

Oh lookie there, Burns makes exactly 9m, the exact amount you need to dump

Bettman is always watching.

It would have to be Pavelski+ if it was him. But, the vets are out of the question.

Can't buy that out.

Example for you: Drop Lindholm and Ekholm (18m in cap). Gives you an additional 9m in cap space (9.4m total) to fill your 9 roster spots.

So yeah will have to drop at least 2 players / 17.2m to make it work.
I did not expect to win all those guys 2 nights ago and it screwed me. I’ll use your example. It hurts the squad but I need to do it

Burned through my extra cap but I needed some quality depth. Happy with my haul today, getting 5 quality guys for <15M.

By my calculations some others are over the cap limit as well (or will be by the time they fill).

@BumDum - 6.6m left for 7 players...have to make a minor cap saving there by dumping someone.

@Blinny - 0.4m left for 7 players...may have to dump a couple bigger names.

:seattleDumps John Gibson (8.9 mil) and we retain 4.45 mil

@m0pe

The bidding thread has Dylan Strome going to both Arizona and Philadelphia...
Philadelphia can have him lol. It would help my cap!
Gladly haha.

Welp, so many players, I am bound to duplicate some by accident at some point.

You guys are gunna hate me, but this is not how it will work lol.

@Blinny did get him first so he is still on his roster. If Blinny chooses to buy him out he can at 50%, but not getting a get out of jail free card because of my mistake.

@ConnorMcMullet sorry, but you will have to find a 1.2m player somewhere else. Strome has fired me as his agent for my mistake, but he will not be going to Philly.

Timeline for the rest of the game

I will be gone tomorrow night so a quick update on times for the end of the game.

Friday 8pm EST - Day 8 players sign
Saturday 4pm EST - Day 9 players sign
Sunday 4pm EST - Rosters must be finalized; voting begins

When I release the results for the Day 9 bidding at 4pm EST tomorrow, I will also release the Day 10 available players.

Day 10 will be first come, first serve.

All players will sign for 1m to the first offer made. 1m is the only offer; you cannot bid more to top a previously made 1m offer. Post the guys you want to make an offer to in the bidding thread.

I will make sure to have enough players available so there is enough for everyone to finish their rosters. If you aren't around at this time, do not worry, I assure you that all players available will only be depth pieces. You have the full 24 hours to complete your roster with these players.

Please have your roster updated before this though to make it easier for me.

Given that I am seeing things like Dylan Strome for 2.1, I think that I have significantly overpaid on almost every player that I have.

I think we all did. It was hard to figure without knowing what player was gonna be available what day. I just got Rasmus Andersson for $1.6M (he will make 4.5M next year) and today might have even better bargains than this.

That's a great roster, definitely top-5 for me.

Although I would change up the defensive pairings. Morrisey and Gio are LHD and Cernak and Parayko are both RHD.

Giordano - Parayko
Morrisey - Cernak

Some of you might wanna re-check your cap situation before offering money you don't have.

One more heads up before Round 10 begins in 3 hours:

For the few minor ties in Round 9, I will just flip a coin to decide who gets the player.

I just want everyone to know exactly how many spots they need to fill in round 10 without waiting for minor responses to tied re-bids.
